I didn't get to watch the first game last night due to my attempting a kitchen remodel.

And I haven't seen them play all season, and I am curious as to how we stack up against them.

Thoughts?

Well, they played Syracuse tight (were ahead with 3 minutes to play) in the preseason NIT, beat tourney teams Colorado State and NC State in the non-conference, beat Colorado twice and Cal once in the Pac 12.

Had a few clunkers along the way (shouldn't have lost to Butler in the noncon, Washington State, Utah, UCLA, Oregon twice).

I'll let someone else talk matchups b/c I don't know enough about their team to break it down that far.

The first game was an eyesore. Washington is a superior team. We should be able to beat them.

They Beat Colorado St at home, NC st, and Colorado twice. They lost to Syracuse in the NIT tip-off, butler at home Oregon twice, cal and washington. They have a bad loss to a horrible Washington st team and a loss to UCLA. They had to take 4 OT to beat Oregon st.

Nothing too bad, but nothing too good, just blah.

I'll defer to others on this one. The last time I watched Stanford play basketball, Mark Madsen and the Collins twins were in uniform.

Not sure who thy have at point, but they have a good SG in Landry Fields, and great swingman in Joch Childress, and the twin towers down low that go by the name Lopez. Should be a tough matchup

(edit) Oops, some of this already above.

A very solid 5-3 vs. NCAA qualifiers, 0-4 vs. NIT qualifiers (pre NIT)

NCAA
beat Coloarado State
lost to Syracuse on neutral court (NIT Season Tip-Off)
beat NC State
beat Coloarado
lost @ Cal
won @ Colorado
beat Cal
lost to Cal on neutral court (Pac 12 tourney)

NIT
lost @ Oregon
lost @ Washington
lost to Arizona
lost to Oregon

I was about to say doesn't Landry fields play for the Knicks ... But then I kept reading your post lol

They are pretty talented, especially in their sophomore class - and have an outstanding freshman guard (Randle). Very good size. They've underachieved in my opinion, which is becoming Johnny Dawkins' calling card.

Stanford is more talented than Minnesota, but is flaky.

Jesus plays center for them, so that has to count for something.

True story: My wife and I got married by Jesus at the drive-thru chapel in Las Vegas. He may have used a different pronunciation than the one most people are accustomed to though.

Zimmerman is an interesting story actually. A Wisconsin kid, recruited by a lot of mid majors in high school, then opted to go play for one of the Cal hyphen teams. Think he transferred to Stanford and walked on. Was a terrific hs player in Wisconsin...this was all pre-Cali poisoning and the jesus-big foot look.

Jesus, apparently, doesn't have to kneel to pray. He can just chill on his back.

The Gophers had a date with Stanford back in the 1989 NCAA tourney, but Todd Lichti and company got upset by #14 seed Siena.

This might be the first NIT game in which we're favored.
