In his radio interview with Tollackson: "If the ball doesn't go through the net for you it kind of zaps your energy to play defense." (Catch that Mother Night?)

Exactly Tubby. And that's why you can't align your lineups roster and playing time for all defense. That's why you can't do line substitutions as you did earlier in the year, sending in five cold players off the bench together is not a way to create offensive continuity. Especially 5 frosh. That's why you needed to play Armelin more when Nolen went down. That's why you need to change your offense next year to have some movement in it. And that's why we need some guys in here who can shoot the ball. Let's hope we have them in Elliot, Oto, Mo, Andre, Coleman and perhaps Welch and Brooks.

Nope I didn't catch that. Don't disagree with it. I never did. Just said high energy plays usual come in transition off of a defensive rebound or steal, not opposing team layups. What i really don't see is how that one statement leads to your rant after. Those things aren't the problem. Without Nolen and Joseph the gophers just aren't very good. Nothing would have changed that.

Look out, Tubby!

When bga is dissatisfied with you, you are in big trouble - 'cause he posts a lot and uses every quote and opportunity to hammer home his opinion. Just an FYI.

What "zap's the energy" out of this team (and the crowd) is the inability to get stops. When we do score and somehow get on a small run, the other team always seems to answer, often with a deflating 3 pointer. We were (are) a less than mediocre defensive team with limited offensive options. That's a bad combination. Tubby can coach but due to some bad luck etc. we are at this undesirable place. The roster shortcomings to some degree (injuries no, players leaving?) are on Tubby. I thought we could still win 9 or 10 games when Nolen went down with Tubby pulling a rabbit out of his hat so to speak. Reality has since set in. Could a different coach have done a better job with this mess? We'll never know. What I do know is that we are better off with Coach Smith than without him and the honeymoon is way over.

I also have not been one to say we don't need him. We do. We need him to have a great year next year. It's been a tough year and one where I think he could have done some things differently. Isn't a board like this for that? I think if we close it down to all pro Tubby stuff it wouldn't be much of a board. I was ecstatic when we got Smith and I am very happy he plans to stay on until he retires.

I think you just rewrote history here a little. So be it.

1-9 bad?

Strongly agree with both parts of bolded.

Funny the guy accusing me of rewriting history is now giving the Gophers a 1-9 record. Does the win at home against Northwestern not count anymore? Or does it drive home your point to make the gophers look as bad as possible?

Minnesota (17-13, 6-12, RPI 63, SOS 30)

Losing nine of 10 games -- with the lone victory coming at Iowa -- is what we call a nosedive. Unless the Gophers make a run to the conference tournament title game -- and that may not even matter -- it's NIT time for them. With Al Nolen in the lineup, Minnesota's story might have been different.

Prediction: Out.

Any way it's sliced, this has been a very disappointing season. Not merely the injuries and the defection, but missed potential, sloppy play, weak leadership, and uninspired coaching.

Did they not finish 1-9? Of course they beat Northwestern at home. Does 2-9 make you feel better? Not me. As far as trying to make the Gophs or Tubby look bad- far from it. I am as big of a fan of this team as anybody there is. Love the Gophers in good times and bad and am happy Tubby is coach. I'm hoping for better results.
