Coyle is, without a doubt, the worst AD in the Big10 for basketball and arguably for revenue sports in general. Pitino management, Pitino fire timing, Ben hire (stop with the excuses people), Ben management, Ben fire timing, NIL strategies (or lack thereof), excuses and burning $1.4M per year of the budget. Even the Medved hire seems like an adult slam dunk on a Lil' Tikes Basketball Hoop.

I had sworn off Gopher sports until Coyle was replaced but I like Medved. Still, NIL and revenue sharing will dictate success and Coyle has proven he has no idea what he is doing on the business side and does not have the sense to hire someone to make it happen. Will be interesting to see if Nico can get some success going even without much support from the U.

The U is a huge university in a major metro area. We should be top 10 in the country across the revenue sports both in terms of NIL and success.

When the hell did any single Gophers fan say that hiring Ben Johnson was a breath of fresh air who would save Gopher basketball? The reaction was the exact opposite. What rock was Mackey living under 4 years ago?
They are the worst when it comes to Gopher basketball. Only Judd ever watches any of the games or could name more than 2 players. At least when Reusse and Doogie are on they have a clue.

it's a viking show

Makey knows Wolves
Judd knows Wild
Declan, I'm not sure what he knows

But I don't hate the show, just don't expect any decent gopher content. they occasionally jump on the wagon, but they quickly jump off

Declan knows the Twins.

None of them know the Gophers but at least Declan doesn't even pretend and just sits it out. The other two try to pretend they know. Judd only knows the Barn isn't like the good old days and Mackey last paid attention to Gopher basketball when he had to host the Richard Pitino show 10 years ago.

Mackey knows the Wolves in a way a casual fan kind of pays attention to the Wolves. He doesn't understand the NBA, he doesn't understand the value of contracts/draft picks in the NBA.

None of them follow college sports at all.

Are these your words or theirs's? I'm not going to listen because they have always just trashed things and talk about sports like there isn't another team on the other side of the field, court, rink competing for the same things.

Niko might have been the one getting fired had he been hired four years ago. We will never know. I have no problem with Coyle and the way he goes about the programs. He's deliberate and doesn't cut corners. Some schools might be in for a rude awakening if they have been reigning things in for the last few years.

A new era is starting and there is no reason to look back.

You do realize we are one of the few major college towns that also has all four major professional sports teams in our metro area right. It makes a big difference where corporations spend their excess dollars verses a place like say , oh I don’t know, Ann Arbor where the only game in town is Michigan or Lincoln, Nebraska.

I just took a look at your post history… you should consider seeing a therapist to help you work through your Coyle issues.

Those know nothings are the worst source for Gopher info. That is why no one listens to anything they put out.

Which tracks with your post.

Coyle is without a doubt the best AD we've had in the modern era and top 5 AD in the Big Ten for my money. We're lucky to have him.
Not a big common fan, but Coyle is the best of the lousiest as it relates to Gopher A.D.’s, and he’s nowhere close to top five in the Big Ten.

Mackey & Judd are often welcome guests at Nadine's Gopher football tailgate gatherings.

Those guys like to argue against things no one or almost no one has said. Mackey did it all the time with Cousins.

I agree you don't know. Ann Arbor is the one example you should avoid when talking about the metro pro sports media bias (hint: AA is closer to the DTW airport than most of metro Detroit, which has the Lions, Tigers, Pistons, and Red Wings).

I find all the local sports personalities to be pretty obnoxious. I guess I don't know enough about their content, I just lumped them into the KFAN group.
That is fair...I mean they are all KFAN rejects anyways. :p

(I used to like KFAN...now I never listen to the radio unless there is a game on)

Um I actually live over here. Ann Arbor does not spend its money on Detroit sports. They pump most of the dollars into Michigan sports.

That is interesting that not a single person in Ann Arbor was on the Lions or Tigers bandwagon last year. That is remarkable.

SKOR North is what made me aware of the Immaculate Baseball Grid.

Blessing. Curse.
