. . . I'll float a name that may or may not have been tossed around on this message board -- Bob DeBesse.

DeBesse has had plenty of experience as an OC with stops at TCU (1990-91) and Minnesota (1992-96 under Jim Wacker). He also was head coach at Texas State University (1997-2002) and wide receiver coach at Purdue (2003-2005) and Texas A&M (2006-2007). He was not retained when Dennis Franchione was fired at A&M. This past year was spent coaching DBs at a high school at College Station, TX.

DeBesse is reported to be a good recruiter and is familiar with the Big 10, Twin Cities and, of course, would have coaching relationships in Texas high school football.

Go Gophers!!

DeBesse

Debesse drove me crazy with playcalling and formations that he would use. That formation with Sauter under center and no backs in the backfield resulted in a sack way too often, and he kept doing it! When we threw that pass in the flat near Wisconsin's goal line and had it intercepted by Jason Suttle just about caused me that have the bif one. Bob, throwing into the flat near your opponents goal line in very dangerous!! Maybe he would work out, but I have my doubts.

What do you think are the chances the new OC will be someone that has either not been mentioned at all or only peripherally? With all the NFL and a few college coaching staffs in flux, there should be plenty of possible candidates, don't you think?
