Sid says the Gophers will get a NIT bid but they might turn it down. Thoughts???????????

Well...we saw quotes from Mbakwe and Hoff saying they wanted to play in the NIT (quite bady it appeared too) so if they turn it down, it would be on the staff.

I'll go on record as saying that's totally moronic if the staff decides to turn it down...more tourney experience for your younger players, national TV, more exposure, but let's turn that down?!?!

Stupid. And entirely non-sensical.

What possible reason should the staff turn down an invite?

First of all......

Sid Hartman has zero credibility. He knows nothing, no one tells him anything important any longer, becasue he'll either forget it, or lose the what is trying to be conveyed in the translation.

He probably...single handedly with his buffoonery, cost WCCO the Gopher contracts. He needs to be released of all public speaking requirements, and left to print his column twice a week (or 3 if he so chooses) to pacify those who think he actually something other than reminiscences to offer.

Saw Maturi here in Indy and said we'll go to NIT if asked. We'll find out tonight.

When's the last time a team turned down an NIT bid? I'm sure it has happened.

This is all pretty much true, except for costing WCCO the contracts. That was likely a decision made by CBS brass in New York, and is consistent with their operations of other stations nationwide, like KMOX in St. Louis.

Sid is a complete embarassment on the radio. That they continue to allow a 90 year old man who can barely speak to be on the air is just sad. I can't believe that he's still allowed to drive either. He's going to kill someone.

What a stupid thing for Sid to say. The NIT is owned and operated by the NCAA. Why would anyone antagonize the big dog?

For answers to that question, you need to contact Ohio State and Jim Tressel.
