Returning players

The program can carry this momentum into next season because players such as Morgan, wide receiver Rashod Bateman and Mohamed Ibrahim will be back.

And defensive back Antoine Winfield Jr. still has to decide whether to go pro or return for his junior season.

If Winfield returns, the defense will have a great shot at maintaining its high level of play.

Ibrahim’s play running the ball Wednesday was incredible, given how much praise had been lavished on the Auburn defensive line.

He had 140 yards on 20 carries, an even 7 yards per rush, and scored a touchdown.

But there’s no doubt the Gophers will miss this senior class. On top of Johnson, senior defensive back Chris Williamson led the team with seven tackles, senior linebacker Carter Coughlin added five tackles, and senior running back Rodney Smith had 77 rushing yards.

Yes, the Gophers will need to replace some players on defense, but with the roster they have coming back and the momentum from this win, next season will be the most anticipated campaign in nearly 60 years.

Go Gophers!!

Lot of people didn’t see any reason to expect anything above average from the Gophers in 2019.

And I suspect a lot of people will be expecting some kind of regression in 2020.

Keep proving a lot of people wrong!!

With that said....I might be taking the under depending on how high it is. O in great shape; D will need to grow up fast!

I for one won't under estimate the team next year.

It’ll be interesting to see what people are predicting for next year and how they handle the higher expectations.

Gonna guess the preseason poll has us finishing 2nd in the West. That will piss Iowa off.

Iowa and Wisconsin are still the teams that you have to beat if you really wan to claim a West division championship, in my opinion.

I still kinda expect some defensive issues.... possibly worse.

OL still worries me.

But hey I said the same about the Auburn game.

The 1960 season wasn't anticipated at all. Minnesota had gone 3-15 the previous 2 years, and Murray Warmath was hung in effigy.

Offense should be excellent again, although no more "pair and a spare" at running back.... unless some underclassman surprises.

They will have Mo, Bryce Williams played a lot last year and they have Ky Thomas coming in as freshman. They also have Potts, Wiley (who is injured) that saw a little action this year.
