per Sid:

One thing the Gophers’ 23-7 loss to Iowa on Saturday proved is that the program is still in the building stage and not ready to compete with more experienced football teams.

The score actually didn’t tell the story of how much Iowa outplayed the Gophers in this game.

Watching this game, it was evident that coach Jerry Kill had better players when he was at Northern Illinois, where he and had time to build the program. It was Northern Illinois that both handed Iowa its only loss of the season and also crushed Purdue on Saturday.

Go Gophers!!

If this was cut-n-pasted, perhaps Sid should fix his own house before casting stones.

What a buch of BS that is about "time to build a program" at NIU. He was only there for three years, Sid. Jerry Kill seems like a good guy. But the credit he takes and others give him for "turning around" NIU is just not telling the entire story. NIU was built by Joe Novak. He was the one who built the program. He was the one who starting beating BCS schools. His last season he was dealing with health problems and his team had one of those seasons where they were decimated with injuries. When Kill walked in there was an abundance of talent.

Also, NIU is the Ohio State of the MAC. They are the only MAC school in Illinois and located just outside one of the largest metro areas in the US. THey do very well in northern Indiana. Imagine what it is like in Ohio for BGSU, Miami, Ohio, Toledo, and Akron. Do you think there is a little competition for recruits in Ohio? How about Western, Eastern, and Central Michigan? Because NIU is the furthest west, they have always done well, with no competition from their level, in WI, MN, and Iowa. Because they are so close to three airports, they are able to recruit nationally too. And, it is pretty darn good school with a nice campus. They have all the advantages.

3399 nailed it but Sid really is going off the deep end with this one. I think he has his directional Illinois programs confused.
