The overwhelming majority of you will be watching ESPN on Monday night when Oregon meets Ohio State in Arlington, Texas, for the college football national championship. Sports viewers are conditioned to watch the main telecast for a mega-sporting event, and ESPN will have 100 on-field microphones, 59 cameras and a production cast of thousands to ensure the most comprehensive coverage for a game expected to draw more than 30 million viewers.

But this year’s title game, like last year's, will have a number of alternative broadcasts in addition to the main telecast on ESPN. In what the company is calling its “CFP Megacast,” ESPN will offer more than a dozen alternate productions across multiple platforms, including presentations on ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPNews, ESPN Classic, ESPN Deportes, ESPN Goal Line, ESPN Radio, ESPN Deportes Radio and five variations on ESPN3.

Tonight's ESPN megacast across multiple platforms for national championship

For those of you who get all of these channels, thankfully I do minus ESPN Classic, ESPN is going balls to the wall with their coverage of the national championship tonight. It's basically college football viewing "porn". :p

I wish I had ESPN Classic. I'd love to just turn up the TV nice and loud and listen to the crowd noise.

If ESPN Classic was available in HD, that is definitely how I would watch the game. But the regular broadcast is far more attractive this year now that Brent Musburger won't be involved.

Ew. They really don't broadcast in HD? I mean, I guess most of what they show is before HD was available, but still. I guess I don't wish I had it anymore.

Yeah ... ESPN Classic - at least here in the TC - is just in standard def. Otherwise, I'd be watching that broadcast. Unfortunately, you can't even watch ESPN Classic via WatchESPN ... so standard broadcast it is for me.
