Minnesota: Will MarQueis finally get his moment?

One of the top dual-threat quarterback recruits in the country in 2008, MarQueis Gray has spent his first three seasons alternating between quarterback (where he backed up four-year starter Adam Weber) and receiver (he had 42 catches for 587 yards last year). Meanwhile he watched the coach that recruited him, Tim Brewster, get fired following a 1-6 start last year. Both Gray and the Gophers will get new life under coach Jerry Kill, whose Northern Illinois offense last season featured its own dual-threat quarterback, Chandler Harnish. Gray will get first shot at the starter's job and has at least one talented receiver to work with in senior Da'Jon McKnight, but whether Gray makes a splash will depend on how quickly he picks up coordinator Matt Limegrover's playbook this spring.

Three seasons? He's only a junior next season.

We forget the "admissions test controversy," in which Gray was too smart for a football player. When he retook his retook of his admission exam (yes, third time), he scored even higher than the first two times.

NCAA: "Damn, he IS intelligent, far more than a certain OSU QB, and we have to let him go to Minnesota."

A lost 2008...our advantage.

I didn't forget the 2008 year but he wasn't even on campus that year. So the statement that he has been switching between QB and WR for three years is not true, since he's only been on the team for two years.

Could you imagine how pissed i'd be if he was a senior this year?

Patrick White at WVU had.......

15 basic plays with various options. Get the ball in Grays hands 30 times either on pass or run and we will win 7 games, maybe 8. Keep it simple stupid and turn the reigns loose. Don't take the same route Brewster and Jed did. They gave Gray a playbook that resembled the King James Bible.

Gray or the other Gopher QB's are no Harnish. Coach Kill knows that and has already said they will minimize the playbook. The question remains is how well Gray/etc will throw the ball. Gray's wheels are not in question if he stays healthy.

There are many burning questions and concerns about this team. Anyone want to talk about the D? Can we put a team on the field that holds BT teams to under 24 ppg? I think we have a better chance of that than us putting up 24 ppg.

Is it me, or is Da'jon a junior?.. or so I thought
