SI Predicts Big Ten Records

Ha just like on the victory walk into stadium tons of fans yelling " We hate Wisconsin! kick there butt!"!

So At 4-4, 7-5 . . .

The 4-4 is interesting, though. Losses? I'm sure they have it as (@PSU, @tOSU, @Iowa). Which means they have us winning 4 of these (@NU, Wisky, Purdue, Michigan State, Illinois).

Hmmmm . . . .

I'd take 7-5. Especially if we could win the Bowl Game.

Plus, Wisconsin really wouldn't finish 'above' us. Their OOC schedule is crap. The Bowl Committee would probably pick between the tied teams based on head-to-head.

We will beat Penn St. this year (Brew's first marquee win on the road in a tough stadium) and I have a good feeling about the Cal game. Put it on the board. I have great confidence in the defense, all we need is consistent o-line play. 10 wins. Losses at tOSU and Illinois.

I wish this was true, but when it comes to bowl selections, the only thing that really matters when the records are similar is who will travel better. If SI is correct in their predictions, that would most likely mean that there would be no Big 10 team in the NC game. Therefore, the 7 bowls with Big 10 affiliations would probably take OSU, PSU, Iowa, MSU, Illinois, Wisconsin and Michigan because they have a history of bringing the most fans. That would leave the Gophers and Northwestern looking for at large bowl bids. Personally, I would gladly take our chances with an at large bowl over going to Detroit for the holidays.

If we win four conference games I will eat my shoes (I wear shoes made of cup cakes).

That's not really true. For the most part, bowls have followed the standings. I can only think of one case where a committee picked a team with a worse record over a better available team. There may be more, I'll admit I'm too lazy to look it up.

Now, when the teams are tied they clearly show a preference for bigger teams. But in the scenario given, I can't imagine the difference between Wisconsin and Minnesota being that great, especially if we beat them (Northwestern would be much more likely to get snubbed actually).
