Should we have traded McDaniels instead of KAT?

Jayden is shooting under 33% from three abd us so limited offensively, thst maybe we traded the wrong player?

It’s not an either or. They didn’t trade KAT’s 2024 offensive production, they also traded his next few years contracts. No clue why people just dismiss that. His contract would have weighed on us massively.

I don't dismiss the contract at all, but it won't even be a Top 20 deal in the NBA in two (2) years. BOS has two (2) of the highest paid players in the NBA on their roster to go along with other well paid guys like Zinger, Holiday and White.

Bottom line...we salary-dumped a Top 15-ish talent for pennies on the dollar. Do we blame the ownership fiasco? The GM? Both? Don't know.

Disastrous trade...and the return for moving Randle will make the return we got for KAT look like a King's ransom.

KAT's contract had to go. It hasn't looked great so far, but let's pump the breaks on calling it a disaster only 1/4th of the way into the season.

If KAT was 3-4 years younger, it's a different conversation. But he's 29, often injured, and paying him 50-60 million the next 4 years doesn't make sense when most big men go quickly downhill after 30, especially often injured ones.

McDaniels might have to go at some point too, but he has still been very good defensively most of the season.

The player I'm most disappointed in this season is Naz Reid. He has regressed, when last season he stepped up and filled in the offensive void for KAT when he was injured. That hasn't happened this season.

McDaniels signed a 5/$135M deal last offseason.

If he was traded, KAT’s contract isn’t so massive, when you aren’t shelling out $27M per year for a defense first SF, with negligible rebounding and offensive game. He’s a good for when you have two players who can regularly hit threes, thus spacing the floor: 🐜 and 🐈. It doesn’t work when you only have one. There’s a whole article in The Athletic, supporting this assertion. When your franchise player us frustrated and says they have no offensive identity, that equals problems for 🫎 and 🐿️ in Frostbite Falls, MN.

Additionally, in trading McDaniels we could have requested draft picks, instead of players to offset KAT’s production and worked on developing Minot and Shannon’s who’s already 24/25.

♟️ not checkers, IMO.

Now we only have 1 player who can regularly hit 3's? Last year we had 5 guys who shot over 36% from 3, Ant was the worst shooter of those 5, and 4 of them are still on the team. We still have 4 shooting at/above 36% this season. Naz and DD are not included in that group and are shooting well below what they were last season.

The shooters are there and McDaniels defense is there, but the shooters aren't shooting well. McDaniels is still making half of what KAT is. Comparing the two contracts is dumb because there is no comparison. It was never a keep KAT or keep McDaniels situation.
