In watching the team thus far, I realized last night that when any gopher releases a shot from outside of 10ft I'm surprised when it goes in. So I thought I would rank who I am most confident about when they take an open jump shot. Here are my top 5 players (based on perception, not stats). but I would not really count on any of them...

1. Garcia
2. Mitchell
3. Asuma
4. Patterson
5. Rigsby

10. Odukale

Anyone else think different?

If I knew anything about the roster players who don't play, I might rank Odukale lower than 10th for shooting. I like the guy on the defensive end and think he helps the team there but it's tough for an offensively challenged team to have a starter who provides almost no scoring on that end.

The team on the whole is not good at three point shooting (.306, #276 in the country) but there clearly are worse teams so far for that skill including some in the Big Ten: Maryland (.306), Washington (.281), Nebraska (.255), and Michigan State (.221 - #362 in the country).

Luckily, our Thursday opponent (Wichita State) has been worse than us so far (.297). If we manage to win our first game and Wake Forest upsets Florida, we would play a team that is shooting .291 (#317) from 3. Florida is only shooting .316 (#255).
