Shooter: Williams Arena to get a $1.2MM new roof this fall

The metrodome collapse might have helped the decision to maintain.

any plans to replace the 83 year old scoreboard? or the boards that wrap around the stadium? how about a practice facility? no we're to busying building college baseball stadiums, boat houses and replacing turf @ the football team's 3 new facilities every year. It's pretty clear mbb isn't a priority of the U's, which sucks because the window of opportunity is so small here with Tubby

OMG, can we bitch about everything? If ya don't like the barn, stay away.

Scoreboard installed in '93

...the same time the seatback chairs were installed. Not sure that would be my priority. Love to see the practice facility completed, though.

I am sure that donations have been down significantly the last couple years and possibly revenue also to a lesser extent.

New baseball stadium is being done strictly with donations. And the current stadium is not even able to be used. So dont complain about that. The baseball team cannot be treated that poorly. If you have $20 million, please step up and the bball practice facility will get built right away. And how does the football team have 3 new facilities? Last time I checked, TCF was the only new facility. And they replaced the old turf at just the practice facility.

And they replaced the old turf at just the practice facility.
Exactly. Plus, the old turf was injuring the players. So yea Go Gophs, making it possible for the U's largest revenue generating team to practice outside without hurting themselves is a waste of money. Good lord...

I am wondering how Tubby's contract extension is coming, Joel? It's been in the works since April 2010. 16 months to do a contract extension. That's a long time for it to be 'with the lawyers'...

A practice facility, a new roof, a new scoreboard, a new floor a year or two ago, new lockerrooms 3-4 years ago, spills in the seating bowl that drip through the floor onto the concourse, concourses half the size they need to be, thousands of obstructed seats, a joke of a club room....as Tubby would certainly agree, tear the entire f'ing building down and build a basketball mecca. That's the only way the facilities will compare with the Big Ten elites.
