Somehow I just don't see Tubby getting along with Leach.
 

Means we are aiming higher than him...or likely Sumlin or any FBS or D2 coach (thank goodness).

A proven BSC winner....unfortunately that means possibly Terry Bowden.

I'm still pulling for Harbaugh.

How have we not contacted Calhoun yet?

Honestly with all the rumors/lack of rumors (I know that is contradicting, but try to understand) there doesn't seem to be a outright favorite or even any targets!

Well maybe the search firm really is doing their job, and a HUGE part of that is that they keep things just as quiet as can possibly be. So I'm sure there are targets and there is likely already a favorite and/or favorites, as it's been one month today since Brewster was let go. It would defy all logic and belief to think that they've just been sitting on their hands and dithering around for the past four weeks.

I smell a smokescreen. Shooter has no frickin Parker Search Firm contacts, he has no idea.
This is either an intentional athletic department leak or an Air Force contact stating the obvious(active coaches cannot be contacted during the season, their agents and freinds can be, but not them.)
 

Most likely "we" haven't contacted anyone yet. "We" being the athletic dept. Our consultants, however, have probably contacted everyone with a whistle.

Right. As of now reports of direct contact with the coaching candidates can be truthfully denied.

Enough people would have access to a note like that... doesn't have to leak from Parker Firm... on Calhoun, remember this: his regular season is done tomorrow... he is the easiest guy to wait the longest on.

Shooter is a joke. At least Sid did some real journalism back when football players started wearing leather helmets. Right after the Spanish-American war.

I can get more insightful news on sports from the rummy on the next barstool at Nyes or from the guys who cut my hair at Schmidty's than I can from Shooter's column. Actually, I think those are some of his sources, so I'm just eliminating the middleman.
 

If anyone gets the name of the next coach right, it will just be a blind hog finding an acorn.
 


The whole point of the search firm is to contact the coach's representative aand not the coach himself, so the coach can say he has not been contacted and not lie. Nobody wants to say, "no comment" because that is basically an admission that there are discussions happening, so the direct contact never happens until both sides have decided there is serious mutual interest.
Secondly, Shooter will be the last guy to get a scoop in the Twin Cities media on the next Gopher coach, right after Reusse.
