I love Dungy, but I don't think he has the right voice/energy to be an analyst that does anything more than chime in once or twice a quarter. If he's doing play by play..... those games will be rough to listen to.

Very apt comparison, IMO. Vanilla, objective, knowledgeable. Explain the finer points of the game without overwhelming you. They're not the reason you tune in, but not so bad that you'll change the channel.

The best analysts do all of the above AND make the game seem more exciting. Think Collinsworth, Aikman, Romo, Herbstreit, et al. I think it's unlikely Dungy gets into that category, but he'll do a fine job.

I don't know if I mind his commentary but his voice is very grating.
