Mens Gopher Basketball junior forward Trevor Mbawke (32) antipicates his next interview, where he will speak of the teams brotherhood, strengths and goals for the upcoming season during a media day on Friday, October 16. [Pioneer Press: Sohail Akhavein] As much as his skill, the University of Minnesota basketball team will miss Trevor Mbakwe's attitude on the court when the Gophers opens their exhibition season Thursday night against Minnesota-Duluth at Williams Arena, co-captain guard Lawrence Westbrook said.

"Trevor went after every loose ball in practice like his life depended on it," Westbrook said of the 6-foot-8, 240-pounder who is prohibited from playing in games until a felony assault charge is satisfactorily resolved.

That's past tense. Trevor is still allowed to practice, isn't he?

Tubby said he wasn't at practice - was in Miami taking care of things.

Curious if he misses a bunch of time what effect that will have on his academic eligibility? Hopefully he can keep that on the up-and-up. The last thing he needs is another hurdle (assuming that he is cleared of the felony and he gets over that one).
