DON’T PRINT THAT

It’s looking like a 7-2 record (5-1 in the Big Ten) could be in the offing for the Gophers football team heading into its big game in Iowa City on Nov. 13. And Iowa was upset 27-7 by Wisconsin on Saturday.

That could mean another contract extension for coach P.J. Fleck, who already is signed through 2026. A new deal could be worth an increase approaching $1 million a year, bringing Fleck’s annual compensation to nearly $5.5 million.

All he has to do is win.

It’s unclear where the money will come from for another Fleck extension considering the university is still helping finance athletics from its central administration. If there’s no extension, though, there could be suitors willing to pay Fleck’s relatively low $4.5 million buyout after this season.

Go Gophers!!

I hope that he doesn't forget his assistant coaches.

I think PJ has managed to get some form of extension/ raise most years.
If I recall correctly his agent has his buyout structured to go down at some opportune time in December and thus if we want to keep him from being poached we extend him and up the buyout.
