Shooter: Jeff Horton leads Gophers football program on a high note

I will certainly miss Horton. He was all class during his entire tenure at the U of M. I will certainly keep track of where he lands his next job and wish him and his family nothing but the best.

His first bad hire is Dan O'Brien. No personality and lacks the leadership and skills to manage that large of an organization. Students that work in his group do not like him. Kill could have done much better.

and gophfan, I could not agree with you less. Dan O'brien is a class act and a great person. You can go ahead and ask anyone that knows him or works with him.

Based on this poster's short history here I believe that they are either a former or current employee of his. I'm guessing the last performance review was sub-optimal.

Just curious what you base this off of? I have heard the opposite but I don't have any 'inside' info. You clearly have a dislike with him, there have been other posts where you have gone out of your way to bash him.

I guess I'm in the minority here but I won't miss Horton. Not saying I hate the guy but I just don't think it's a big loss. Yes he won two tough games and yes he's a nice guy. However, let's not forget he was a key (highly paid) cog in Brewster's failed experiment.

Horton came here this year, bought the Brew spiel, and then was micromanaged by the Brewster. I don't think we saw the true Horton until after Brewster was fired. I don't fault Coach Kill for letting him go, too many chances for divided loyalties, if you retain a former head coach, but it's a tough situation for Horton. He will will always have my best wishes and respect for what he accomplished as interim coach.
