Gophers linebacker Kamal Martin (knee) did not participate in the recent Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala., and that may adversely affect his position for April’s NFL draft, according to NFL Draft Countdown’s Scott Wright. Gophers teammate linebacker Carter Coughlin did play. Both are projected as third day draft picks (rounds 6-7).

Gophers wideout Tyler Johnson did not participate in the second-tier East-West Shrine game, for which he was invited, in St. Petersburg, Fla.

Coughlin, Johnson, Martin and Antoine Winfield Jr. have been invited to the NFL combine in Indianapolis on Feb. 24.

Impressive in the Senior Bowl was St. John’s 6-6, 308-pound offensive tackle Ben Bartch, who, as expected, played well against SEC competition and has a chance to be a top-100 draft pick.

First Gopher expected to be drafted in April remains Winfield. The safety could go between the second and fourth rounds

Go Gophers!!

Will be exciting to watch the draft this year. Gophers will be able to tout the program more this year with these guys on film as they are being drafted. Hopefully the announcers will sing the praises as well.
