The Gophers’ Tracy Claeys, at $1.4 million, ranks No. 68 among 128 Division I football coaches in annual compensation, according to USA Today’s annual survey. No. 1 is Michigan’s Jim Harbaugh at $9.004 million.

Claeys will receive a bonus of $31,275 if home attendance averages at least 49,000. Minnesota, through five games at home, is averaging 45,131. With Minnesota’s 40-17 victory at Illinois on Saturday, becoming bowl eligible, Claeys earned a $61,202 bonus.

Go Gophers!!

Shooter just found out about Claeys contract? News must take along time to get out to the golf course. ;)

Don't see him getting the attendance bonus.Would have to SRO both remain home games.

Did the math, even with a record attendance of 54,147 both games (which I don't think is physically possible since that was the TCU game and we had the extra temp bleachers for the Vikings) over the last two home games, the average would be around 47,700.

Claeys has earned $158,000 in bonuses already according to that USA Today study. In addition, here are the bonuses that Jerry Kill had going into the 2015 Season. Looks like the attendance bonus went up by 2,000 tickets. Wonder if they were aware that the 3,000 temporary seats were coming out? :D

Minnesota Jerry Kill $75,000 Academic APR 960 or better
Minnesota Jerry Kill $50,000 Academic Cumulative GPA for 2013-14 at least 2.8, but less than 3.0
Minnesota Jerry Kill $50,000 Academic GSR at least 70% but less than 80%
Minnesota Jerry Kill $50,000 Athletic 5 Big Ten wins
Minnesota Jerry Kill $50,000 Athletic Big Ten coach of the year
Minnesota Jerry Kill $50,000 Athletic Non-CFP bowl appearance
Minnesota Jerry Kill $50,000 Other Home attendance average of at least 47,000 but less than

With how much we are saving on his contract are we making quicker progress on previous coach buyouts?

Tracey's buyout is $250,000 per year left on his contract. He could be bought out for $500,000 at the end of this season.

$31,275.... That's some serious D1 money. Move over, Harbaugh.

Only one bonus is going to matter...if he hits 8 wins this season he will get a real B1G Contract.

Ive been wondering this myself. Both for football and Basketball.

Mase, Munson and Brew have long since been paid off. I think Tubby's contract would have been up after the upcoming season so that will be the end of paying him. I think he got half his base plus some of other money for around $3 million. Usually how it works is they pay you over the remaining life of your contract.

This, I doubt Claeys cares about any small bonus. His goal should be to get to 8-9 wins, win trophy games (the axe), and win a bowl game to secure an extension and raise in his contract at end of the season. He does 2/3 of the above and he'll get paid more than any little bonus.
