Shooter: Adam Weber to play in Eastham Energy College All-Star Game

"Record-setting former University of Minnesota quarterback Adam Weber will play in the Eastham Energy College All-Star Game on Jan. 23 in Tempe, Ariz.

Meanwhile, Weber, represented by the National Sports Agency, last weekend began two months of 11-hour-per-day workouts in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., preparing for April's NFL draft."

As much as Adam frustrated me during his tenure here and the fact that I wanted him benched, does not mean that I do not want him to succeed at the next level. To the contrary, I hope he gets drafted and plays on an NFL team. I would love to watch him play on Sundays. Quite frankly, I could care less how an NFL team does so if he screws up a play on an NFL team, I have nothing invested in it so I don't care. But with my beloved Gophers, it just pained me to see him make bad throws because there is nothing more that I want for the Gopher fb team, than to go to the Rose Bowl and with Adam's mistakes (I am not saying he was the only one making mistakes-it all started with the hire of Tim Brewster) it was not going to happen.

Fair enough. I know I defended him on more than one occasion over the last few years and got rather tired of doing it. I know that Weber made some bad throws and I suffered through them too, but I still think he really got screwed up by all the coaches who did everything from run different offenses every year as well as mess with his throwing motion. I think a lot of his problems came from that and don't be surprised if you hear people in the NFL coach say that he is better than advertised and he was poorly coached in college.

I would really like to see him succeed in the NFL -- you really have to pull for the guy because he sure faced a lot of adversity while he was here.
