Looks like Shane Schilling is still having some issues, he was taken into custody in Chaska last night after a 3 hour stand-off. I heard first hand that he was taken into custody. The news article doesn't list any names but when I checked the jail roster he was listed as taken into custody last night at about 11:00 PM. Scroll to page 8 to see his name.

Let hope Shane gets things turned around.

Here are the two links.

We're waaaaaaaaaay past the point of hoping that Shane gets things turned around.

I sincerely hope that this will not result in a grave consequence, and I hope things turn around for him. I mean, he makes the necessary efforts. It saddens me...

If he turns things around, does he still have a year of eligibility left?

Thanks for posting Smokey. My parents live 1/2 mile up the road from this apt and my dad works for Carver County so he got word of the incident and called me earlier tonight. He didn't know who it was but he heard it was a former Gopher basketball player that was about 30 years of age. I happen to be 29 and played with Shane at one of the Clem Haskins basketball camps back in the 90's so unfortunately I had a good feeling it was Shane.

On a brighter note about former Gophers, I ran in to and hung out with Sam Jacobsen a few weeks ago. He looked like he was still in great shape and it sounded like he is doing well. He is working in sales for a small start-up that makes a device that assists people in monitoring their calorie burning activity. It looked like a pager on his belt clip but it had a ton of functionality and had an internet interface. He said that he plays pick up basketball games with Ricky Foggie and some other former athletes on a regular basis.

jail time

I used to root for him but I'm way past hoping he turns things around. Let's get him off the streets and keep him there...

The STrib has a pretty big write up of what happened...it's very sad:

Go Gophers!!

Meth is horrible.

When I read about some of his other misadventures, they sounded like the actions of someone on meth, so I'm not surprised to read this.

I know people who have beaten meth (or at least are still beating it), but it's tough. You have to be really motivated. I'll never be past the point of hoping he turns things around, but he's going to need some help, and it might come in the form of being forcibly taken off the streets. That may be his only real chance to focus on treatment.
