Early last season the Gophers were searching for a No. 1 runner. Some observers thought that runner might be Donnell Kirkwood but he missed games because of injury. The chance to play more became available to Cobb.

He seized that opportunity to get on the field and become a starter. Now he has a more ambitious goal. “I want to be the best back in the Big Ten. If I am the best back in the Big Ten that does our team a whole lot of favor. As a team we want to win the Big Ten and we feel like we will win the Big Ten.”

Are we all agreeing to agree that in this case "best" means "most yards rushing"?

Otherwise we are setting ourselves up for some interesting polls at the end of the season. "Best" is such a subjective word :)
 

Does he want to be the very best? Like no one ever was?

If he's best in one sense but not another, I'll take it.
 



I don't think we've seen his best yet. For some reason he gets no love from gopher fans. He isn't the biggest or fastest but he's a good blend of talent. We'll see this coming season. I like all of our RBs. Very excited to see what we can do as a team yardage-wise. We had what, 2500 team rushing yards last year? Wisky had 3600 or so? That's our target.
 


Cobb is a pure football player.

He's also super slow.

I like him a lot.

He's our leader in 2014.
