Next season expect the Gophers to hold a ceremony to retire the jersey of Randy Breuer. The former Lake City High School star is No. 3 in all-time scoring for the Gophers with 1,777 career points. Breuer, a 7-3 center, played four seasons with the Gophers starting in 1979-80 and averaged 16.6 points per game on the 1982 Big Ten championship team.

Go Gophers!!

One of the more dominant players in MN HS boys basketball history. One of the only teams that had much success against him was Winona Cotter - because they had a guy playing center who was a D2 FB recruit, and he would just beat up Breuer as much as the refs would allow. Most teams would just try to hold the ball and see if they could win a low-scoring game.

My uncle guarded him and he doesn't sugar coat it, it wasn't pretty.

Congrats to Breuer. Didn't we have a lengthy thread on this topic less than a year ago? GH influencing policy, yeah! lol

I take it they must have waived the degree requirement in Breuer's case.

Or maybe he got his degree?

Or maybe he got his degree?

In the last thread, people in the know made it sound like that wasn't ever going to happen (been too long, courses changed/eliminated from his major, etc.).

In any event, it's good news IMO.

I remember the last thread. I believe it was quite awhile ago. Just thinking it's possible he might have gotten the degree somehow.

Yes, the great "Breuer Isn't Athletic" debate. Tiny against the world, basically.
