per Shama:

When the Gophers play their opening game of the season at TCF Bank Stadium on August 28 against Eastern Illinois fans will have more locations to buy beer and wine.

A source told Sports Headliners that approximately 150 points of sale in the stadium will serve customers—about double the number from last season. That means about 150 workers available to sell alcohol in different parts of the stadium. Also new is beer and wine will be sold 90 minutes prior to kickoff and through the third quarter—compared with 60 minutes and through halftime in 2013.

The athletic department is making the changes to create a better fan experience. In the past, the stadium beer and wine locations were overcrowded (plaza area only) but being able to purchase those alcohol products at regular concession stands, creating additional points of sale, will provide more efficient service.

Go Gophers!!

It's about time we get with the ticket. People want beer at a game? Let them have at it.

Schidt, I have been to high school games where the parents and fans go to their cars for a bump or two.

And at halftime, they all headed to the local liquor store.

BTW. I was refereeing some of those games, but never had a bump until after the game. The liquor store cashed our check from the local high school. We had to split the pay somehow, ya know.

Vikings influenced this I think. Probably the expansion of POS locations was a big part of the Viking's upgrade package.

If they are putting temporary seats in the open-end plaza, there is no other choice.

Hopefully they can clear more than $17.00 this year.

Adding POS for a lightly attended game like Eastern Illinois is fluff, there won't be lines anywhere. The #1 problem with that stadium for a packed game (which the vikings will all be) will be two levels dumping to one concourse which will be less than half as wide as it could be because of the long lines at the concessions stands. Anyone who went to the Wisconsin game last year can tell you that adding more people standing in line at the concession stands will just make it impossible to move around the concourse. I think to handle the big crowds they will have to add POS around the outside of the stadium (like they did with beer last year) to pull some people into more space.

Or build concessions and bathrooms on the extra space they have on the top level. Make it so they can be built over if there is ever an expansion.

Whoever the moderator is of this site. Quit randomly deleting my posts for absolutely no reason. Oh so sorry I said I didn't think this Shama story is not news. As most people knew beer selling locations would be greatly expanded going into this season a long time ago. That means you freaking delete it? Pathetic attempt at moderation and just plain pettiness more than likely.

Sometimes think GH is turning into a TMZ dumpster fire of a website.

Now go ahead and delete this post too. smh......

Agree. They need to utilize new areas not utilize the same over utilized areas more.
