UW picked up Hill today. According to Scout, Hill chose the Badgers over offers from Dartmouth, Florida Gulf Coast, Kent State and Yale.

Go Gophers!!

Man him and Dearring are sure gonna lead them to championships. Why would he go after those two when his team has been to the tournament 8 straight years?

This makes me feel better about our 2013 recruiting. We may not have any commits yet, but at least we don't have two low rated players committed. We may end up with some low rated players, but we still have hope at the moment!

Bo wants to prove it to us Gopher-holers that he can do it with less talent also.

Definitely sounds like a reach of a recruit, but Bo has done it before (successfully and unsuccessfully). I guess we shouldn't be too hard on them considering on our football board we are jumping up and down for getting a commitment from a player (Jalen Myrick) whom only had offers from Middle Tennessee, Colorado State and Louisiana-Lafayette...eeks!

That's true, but I wouldn't exactly compare Gopher Football's recent success with Badger Basketball's recent success.

Agree. But Wisconsin seems to have its success with these types of players (granted, they get top players too like Dekker and Koenig). Look at Ryan Evans...did he even have another D1 offer? But then there are reaches that haven't worked out for Wisconsin, like Ian Markloff (sp?).

This is the beginning of the end for Bo and Becky! Retirement cannot be far off for Bo now. Continued recruiting of this caliber of players will lead to NIT berths and the end of the Bo Ryan era. Welcome Jordan Hill to the Badgers and thanks for helping to bring them down!

Sorry, I'm sure this has been discussed before, but Dearring didn't receive a scholarship from Wisconsin, did he? He's just a walk-on? Because his Rivals profile has him committed with an offer. I though Rivals didn't show recruits as having offers if they were walk-ons?

If we had a KFAN-style tournament for preposterous statement of the year, this would no doubt be the top seed overall...wow.

However Basketball and Football are completely different in terms of recruiting. In football you can take chances on kids with great speed like Jalen Myrick who might I add plays at a very small school (which may be the reason he is under the radar) and coach them up on how to play corner. Plus, in a common recruiting year for football you have an average of 20 scholarships to give where as in basketball you may only have 3 or 4. So, you can take more chances and have a lot more misses in football recruiting than basketball.

This kid may take 2 or 3 years to develop and for a successful basketball program like Wisconsin this is not going to cut it horrible miss by them.

Let's hope that the Gophs can capitalize and land 2 or 3 solid to really good recruits!
