Coach Brewster is going to be the coach at least as long as Dr. Bob is at the helm. The new President will have the opportunity to hire his own AD and Coach. Nothing will happen till the new President is installed. Watch closely who they choose, we could move forward or it Could be the second comming of Malcom Moos.

Dr. Bob has been very good for the football program imo. Without administrative support our coaching carousel has not been the solution for the last 40+ years. One thing that gives me better reason for hope is having a stadium back on campus. There is a daily reminder that there has been an investment in being competitive. Don't step back.

This is why I referred to Maturi as a "lame duck" in another thread. Barring a complete collapse or scandal Brewster is back next year. But assuming that the new prez and AD are installed before the 2011 season Brewster will be under much more scrutiny and expectations will be significantly higher. Besides, by 2011 even the most ardent Brewster supporters aren't going to be able to trot out the "Redshirt Excuse", which is akin to telling a creditor that "the check is in the mail."

FWIW, I truly do want to see the team & Brewster succeed this season. And assuming that there are signs of progress* Brewster deserves a 5th year. He made a conscious decision to redshirt a bunch of guys rather than going for a quick fix. He should have the chance to see if that decision pays off.

*progress consists of some mix of showing offensive competence, getting a signature win, and showing player development, particularly at RB, QB, and OL. Beating one of our rivals would be a nice touch, too.

If Brewster would have had a signature win at this point this conversation would be much tamer. I truly believe a signature win is needed to give the fans some hope that the program is turning the corner.
