No. 1 Ohio State (22-0, 9-0) at No. 18 Minnesota (16-6, 5-5)
The Gophers are 1-2 since they lost senior point guard Al Nolen to a foot injury. Facing the Buckeyes is no way to get healthy. I believe it's only a matter of time before Ohio State loses, but even though Minnesota is one of the few teams in the league with the size to deal with Jared Sullinger, I don't think they have enough offensive firepower to pull off the upset. Besides having to play without Nolen, the Gophers have lost the ability to play Blake Hoffarber on the wing because he has to take over Nolen's responsibilities at the point. Minnesota's horrid 11-for-22 performance at the foul line cost them in Wednesday night's loss to a suddenly resurgent Indiana team. I do think the Buckeyes' free-throw shooting will cost them sometime soon (OSU was 15-for-25 in its win over Michigan Thursday night), but for now their record will remain perfect.

Go Gophers!!

Hmmm

Is that the same Seth Davis that saidTubby was as good as gone just as we prepared for our first tournament game last year???????

Usually I think Seth Davis is a hack, but he's giving us a shot.

Good karma?

Not sure why it's giving me a good vibe, but I liked the fact that last night ESPN kept showing a graphic with OSU's next 5 games, pointing out where they might get beat, and every single one of 'em (Fran Fraschilla, 'Phonso Ellis, Ryan Burr) looked right past the Gophers (not that I can blame 'em) and started analyzing the OSU-Badger matchup. Nary a single word about the mere possiblity that Minnesota could be the one to knock OSU from the ranks of the unbeaten.

Seth Davis IS a hack, make no mistake.

OSU at the Kohl Center should be very interesting because Sullinger won't get all the calls bumping down low. Matta already planted a seed in the minds of the B10 officials last night aftre the Michigan game with his post game whining about Sullinger getting mugged all night.

Can't wait to see the whining during - and after - that game....

False. Sorry you don't like his opinion, but that doesn't make him a hack.

No, he's a hack. End of story. Daddy got him his job at CBS. He is flat out wrong on a lot of stuff, including the continued insistence last year that Tubby was bound for Oregon, which he seemingly tweeted every hour, growing stronger in confidence with every tweet. He was wrong, as usual.

If it's any consolation, the guy doing the UWGB/UW-Milwaukee game on ESPNU just said the Gophers will win. :cool03:

He's been with SI covering college basketball for 15 years. No doubt his dad helped kick-start his career, but he has plenty of experience now. If all people who use family connections in their career are hacks, then there are millions of hacks out there.

And if everyone who tweets something that turns out not to be true is a hack, then pretty much everyone would be a hack in your book.

I'm not saying he's a hack because he used family connections or that he simply missed one story. But, the fact his daddy got him the gig, the fact he is wrong a lot, and the fact he is so smug about it all helps bring me to that conclusion. And, I don't throw the term hack around loosely. There are many, many college basketball writers out there who do their jobs well. Seth Davis, unfortunately is one that doesn't, IMHO. It isn't just one instance that makes someone a hack. It is the consistent problems that lead me to that conclusion. And, I can safely say, that many, many people that know much more about basketball (and basketball writing) than I do, have come to the same conclusion. CBS could really have a solid guy sitting at the desk there, but they choose not to.

Tubby/Oregon

How did that story happen when not one credible source ever said anything about it? What a joke? Same for the endless Virginia stories. Somebody has to be held accountable for this dribble at some point, don't they?
