At the football game this afternoon as they announced the Land O Lakes donation. Other than a few scattered folks standing, the response was pathetic. We have been waiting for the lead donor, the big fish, to step up and set an example. Land O Lakes did and the response was lame. Hugely disappointed.

Section 212 was better than most but have to agree for the stadium as a whole.

I think part of the "less-than-stellar response" can be attributed to a lot of "guests" using tickets "given" to them.

What I'm saying is that the response might have been more enthusiastic for the tOSU game in November for example.

The Billd's stood up immediately and started clapping. Several others around us (including DarrentheGreek) joined in immediately too.

Hopefully awareness and thanks goes up as the campaign progresses.

Go Gophers! Here's to facility upgrades!

Yeah, let's invent more ways to be disappointed...that's what is fun about being a fan!

Land O Lakes will get a huge ovation when the facilities are built and announced and such. The response might be a little lackluster, but I wouldn't look into it too far.

people clapped and cheered but kinda faded as everyone was named.

If there weren't 300 different things during the timeouts you were supposed to cheer for over the course of the game, then maybe the land o lakes group would have gotten something larger. Call it recognition fatigue.

Amen

Everyone zones out on these presentations, usually it's something nobody cares about. It's a great opportunity to get a hot dog.

Sorry, I buy generic dairy products.

They even had a Kemps and Crystal Farms Ad. up during the presentation.

Now days, I bet most people are buried in their phones during breaks.

Exactly. It's promo after promo after cause after cause. No such thing as just a sporting event anymore. It's promotion overkill. Sad, sad, sad.

Promotion and cause, promotion and cause. and oh btw we have a game.

And stay off my fairway!

So you don't like the "CaseIH Red Zone"?

i thought there was plenty of applause. its was 25 million. they pay more than that in coffee per year at their locations.

Fans have speaking highly of Land O Lakes lately for their contribution and I believe that that will be the lasting impression of them as people continue to talk about them and thank them for taking charge.

The response for LOL was much less than I expected.

I agree with others that we have an incredible amount of causes and recognitions and most people tune those out, this time to the unfortunate lack of response from the fans for the donation.

I tried to cheer, but they kept introducing every VP in every department of every subsidiary, along with his secretary and his kids. Then they didn't pause when they finished introducing the Land O' Lakes guys, but they had to introduce U of M muckety mucks too. By the time they were finished, we had cheered ourselves out.

If you want people to cheer, give them an opportunity.

The guy who figured out how to bend the butter box and do the trick, that guy we should clap for

Gopher 07 probably said it the best.

I was listening to one of the TC media outlets the other day talking about Twins and MLB. Saying nobody takes infield paractice anymore. Too many promos, causes and several honorary first pitches every game. it's a three ring circus. Same with all sports now.

Too many Gopher games where and important number rtetirement or recognition was during a time out or end of quarter......when it should of been done at half time. Too much crammed into small openings.

Same media was talking about the length of mlb games. Between innings used to be 1.5 minutes. Now 3.5 minutes. That's 34 minutes per game right there.

Don't screw the golden goose.

Edit: Maybe some of these sports entities should hire a top notch person to at least dump the stupid and dorky promos. Ads can be good, but some of this crap is an insult to intelligence.

I get there is promo fatigue...but without those $ coming in the athletic department would have to make up the $ elsewhere with increased tickets or cut sports. Its a necessary evil and wont be going away anytime soon especially with stipends and pay for play coming down the road

There's also a point of diminishing returns. Too many ads and reducing the game day experience also will mean less revenue in the long run.

More than anything the College game has had a much better game experience to sell over the pros. Pretty much the same now. You don't want to lose one of your major selling points.

First things first. They have to get the length of the game down to NFL levels. The Ohio State game tonight was obnoxiously long.

How long was it? There was a point, what 10 yrs ago when most college games went 4 hrs. Trying to remember the rule changes since. Used to have auto time-out on first downs maybe?

It was pretty close to 4 hours tonight. Personally, I think the clock stopping before the ball is placed after a 1st down has to go.

At least until the end of the half and game.
