Senior year highlights of Gophers commit Chris Streveler

He's kind of a man among boys out there. I liked the first highlight. "Take a seat, I'm going to score a TD." There's another one where he blew up a defender around the 2 minute mark.

i watched the first highlight and decided i like this kid a lot

Looks great - will they pull his red shirt, too? More seriously, he's on a good team, which is blocking well on his runs and giving him pass protection. Nevertheless, he looks to have a lot of potential. Now we need a Maroney-style running back to go with him.

kind of reminds me of Colin Kapernick (who had one DI offer)

Competition doesn't look great but he looks like he's running an offense similar to what Kill likes. Read-option runs and passes. If he is accurate maybe he doesn't RS and comes in to compete?

I think if he was from MN people would be freaking out about this kid similar to how people reacted about Nelson.

I liked the fact it was practically HD quality versus most of the grainy highlight films.

he needs to redshirt right now. there's no way he's beasting kids already at the d1 level. plus i don't want a kid here who's mechanics look about as bad as Martinez...

First team all-Big Ten Taylor Martinez? Right, wouldn't want anything like that.

Taylor Martinez can come in and start tomorrow if he would like. He only has like a .800 winning percentage.

Beautiful mechanics are nice, but unless the QB can put the ball on the money, mechanics are over-rated. Ask Phillip Rivers (that's who I think Streveler's mechanics resemble). I'm more worried about overall arm strength, but the kid looks like a really good athlete.

I'll agree with you 100% there and that's why i said i really like him. I just don't see him having a chance at starting right away (unless our current qb's don't develop at all). the mechanics will help him as a qb because it helps him get the ball out earlier, which is especially helpful when you are unsure of your line play. All that said, I hope the kid is a stud at the collegiate level just like he appears to be in hs.

Any bets on what position he truly ends up at?

I'd be shocked if it wasn't qb.

Wow - this kid is really impressive

I would imagine he plays QB his first two years here - one as a RS and the next as a backup. From there he could switch to any position really. Or maybe he is our QB 2-3 years into his tenure here.

When he committed he openly talked about switching to WR or S. He said that his preference would be to play QB but if he can get on the field earlier, the switch would be fine with him.

"They are bringing me in as a quarterback. That's what I do best," Streveler said. "But if I'm stuck at the bottom of the depth chart, I would let them move me to safety or receiver. I'll do anything to get on the field."

i thought i had remembered that. thanks for the reminder!

Good looking QB. I'd take a chance as QB/Athlete. From small farm town in IL of about 8,000 people.

I guess his school was 5A, in Illinois they go up to 8A (biggest). Went 10-1 with a team that was 2-7 the year before.

God I love kids with attitudes like that. Love 'em!
