It is senior day on Saturday and I think this group has been through a lot of ups and downs. I thought it would be good to start a thread to show appreciation for everything they've done.

I also saw this from Ryan Burns yesterday. Maybe a few walk-ons?

So would it be a surprise or wouldn't it?

I think this staff handles these situations in a decent fashion. If a player knows he's not coming back, or he's buried on the depth chart and if he's not going to see any action, I get the feeling that the coaches sit down and lay it out, and let the player make his decision on whether to come back or not. And, if a RS JR leaves, that does open up a scholarship.

Lauer and Hayes are the 2 that standout as RS JRs to me on that list but I guess neither is really a surprise with one seemingly always battling injuries and the other stuck as a backup and never really fully able to reach his potential.

Well that answers the question then. Also not understandable why the staff is going after so many OL recruits. Sucks about Lauer especially, I think he could have been very good if it weren't for the injuries.

Also kind of interesting to me that Lincoln Plsek isn't listed as I figured maybe with his injury issue this year he may just decide to be done but maybe he is feeling much more healthy and ready for one more go around next season.

Isn't Bobek somewhat of a surprise? I thought he had another year.

I know this is an appreciation day thread...so first, thank you seniors! I'll give you an ovation in a few hours!! Also, that seems like a lot of seniors! I feel like we've had 10 players at senior day before (slightly exaggerating). Nice to see less attrition for a change.

But...wow...we're really going to be breaking in a whole new offensive line next year. Will be interesting to watch it over the off season and into next fall.

Sorry mods. I created a duplicate thread. Thanks GophersInIowa for kicking this off.

Seven linemen on the seniors list explains why we have so many OL recruits.

Claeys & Limegrover may very well be retooling the o-line.

Wouldn't it be cool if Jerry Kill became the O line coach? I know it won't happen, just a fun thought.

Here's to seeing many of them playing TWO more games this year! :drink:

He would still have to get a medical redshirt and those aren't 100% guaranteed.

Ryan Burns said Bobek was granted an extra year but has decided to hang it up.

I can't really blame the kid. He has had some really bad luck as far as injuries go, and with the most recent one being a concussion it's probably best to move on.

Lauer is the one that surprised me, but he's another guy who couldn't stay healthy.

Gotcha, thanks for the info. Sucks but is understandable for Bobek.

D Campbell played maybe the best game of his career today.

I always liked him.

He'll be missed.
