Has anyone heard any intel on the gophers and a secret scrimmage this year?

Those no longer exist, they've been replaced with the higher profile exhibitions which MN is playing NDSU and UND.

Go Gophers!!
Illinois has a “secret scrimmage” with Florida next week so they do exist.

Coaches like them because they can set up situations to practice. They can ask for the other team to play zone for awhile. They can set up out of bounds situations. And much more.

A score will leak out but they don’t usually mean much.

I think what changed is that the teams can have Exhibitions against other D1 programs, thus charge admission (up to 2).

The can still have the "Secret Scrimmages" if they choose instead of the Exhibition(s). Because the Gophers have 2 Exhibitions, they don't have a Scrimmage.

That's my understanding. Could very well be wrong and welcome anyone able to refute that.

We can't be paying these teams that much other than price of gas.

Niko mentioned that, but said he thought having the guys play in front of a crowd would be more beneficial.
