SEC Officials

I applaud the SEC for the suspensions. Maybe the Big 10 will follow suit. Teams need to know that at the very least, the conference wants each game to be called fairly.

Good link, DeltaHog. This has been going on far too long in various games in other conferences too. I can accept human error, but I can NOT accept biased officiating, anywhere, at any level. Thanks for that link. Good luck, and GO WARTHOGS!!!!!!!

what were the main reasons for this? I was out of town so I could not see the game. Just the main blown calls/reasons?

I think following the NBA thing, you have to watch for this kind of thing. Not saying these refs are involved in anything illegal, but I don't think you can allow an atmosphere that would enable such things.

The human error is always going to be there. What gets me is instances when technology comes into play and they still don't get the calls right.

This officiating crew has blown calls in two games this year, for which the SEC has had to admit that they were wrong and pretty much apologize to the schools. First, in the Georgia/LSU game, Georgia scored a TD to take the lead with less than 2 minutes remaining. Georgia's AJ Green caught a TD pass, dropped the ball, ran to his teammates and did a chest bump with two of them. One of the officials threw a flag for excessive celebration. It was a horrendus game changing call. Green did nothing excessive, yet Georgia, who was only up by I think two points, had to suffer a 15 yard penalty on the kickoff which setup LSU to easily drive the field and win the game.

Then, in the Arkansas/Florida game, the officials called a personal foul on Arkansas on third down to keep a Florida drive alive which allowed the Gators to win the game. There was also a missed pass interfence call that benefited the Gators. Arkansas should have won this game.

The SEC has admitted to both Georgia and Arkansas that the calls were wrong. Of course this does nothing to change the outcome of the games. Florida is still undefeated and Tim Tebow still celebrates in a much more dramatic fashion than AJ Green on practically every play. Nothing is done about that.
