Last Spring I ultimately told the U of M marketing contractor guy who was calling me that I was probably done due to the Norwood Teague pricing policy and the status of my job. At the end, he told me I was about out of time, and I let it lie. Everything changed today though.
The U of M sent me an e mail that I just saw tonight telling me that my season tickets were ready to ship, and that I needed to pay up right away before they could ship. I heard a VM message telling me the same thing, so I called back at lunch and verified that my old tickets were really available and paid over the phone, so I am back in business.
I do not mind paying the extra $150 per ticket in my zone relative to the $100 last year, but the next two years and the general approach had me POed. With Norwood gone, things could always change or be moderated after this year.
This was an interesting turn of events. Was the U of M incompetent, by in error not putting my somewhat desirable seats in the pool for upgrades last spring, or did they leave them available with the hope that people like me would take a later opportunity to change our minds?
Secondly, I bought two of the $30 tickets for TCU via that LivingSocial deal over the weekend. That deal requires buyers to e email Goperfanrelations with a request to e mail the ticket vouchers to the buyer. In my e mail I wrote that I was a disgruntled former season ticket holder, and they could e mail my old location for the $30 deal if no had taken them yet. (noted I was not serious) Two days after that e mail this unexpected change occurred.
I wonder if it possible that ticket sales have been so slow for season tickets that no one actually selected my tickets previously, or it is just an oversight? (or most unlikely a decision to give me second chance later) I am going with the theory that the rep. I was dealing with last spring just did not take the steps to release my tickets to the public after I bailed out, and not on purpose.
Regardless, I like my seats and am happy to keep them for now, even though I still would have been at every game if this had not happened. $990 on the credit card, oh well!
