I called the Ticket Office to ask and was told we may see something later this week. I suppose this fits in nicely with NSD, but I'm excited about Gopher Football pretty much year around.

I got a call from my new ticket rep about 2 weeks ago (apparently a new service the ticket office is pushing, to be more like the service you get from pro teams), and asked when prices/renewals/etc. were coming for football. He said he didn't have a definite date, but 'soon', on the order of magnitude of a few weeks.

Really? I have never gotten a call from a ticket rep like that, and I buy 6 season tickets a year. But, that is ok. I, like the OP, pretty much has Gopher football on my mind 24/7 and am very anxious for spring ball to start! :)

Were they looking to drum up more sales or what was the the point of the call? (If you don't mind me asking of course) :)

Surprised to hear I got a call before you then, as I only buy 2 season tix a year. I would have had you up on the list much higher than my mere 2 seats. I will say I am a regular, but certainly not big dollar donor. I give what I can, and fairly regularly (couple times a year) to both the athletic department and the CSE. Not sure what your status is on that front, but maybe that was a differentiator?

The guy I talked to, Eric, was very friendly and asked me some general questions about what Gopher sports I like to attend, etc. Historically, I've bought extra seats to football games, and Gopher hoops and hockey tix thru the U, rather than secondary market, so I have that history on my account as well. I figured he was trying to upsell me into some additional seats or season tix to another sport, but that never came up. It was more a informal introduction and letting me know to contact him for any assistance if I wanted extra seats for a game or for another sport. Maybe you're on the list, but they haven't called just yet? Who knows. Keep your ears open.

Those calls are from the Aspire Group. They do a nice job of general talking - asking about favorite Gopher players, games attended, etc. They are trying to make an emotional connection, taking good notes, etc. I've had a couple of calls for them. Each call leads to a deeper level of "ask" per se, up sell, better seats, etc. It's not invasive at all, in fact I like the approach.

Go Gophers!!

Agreed. I did like the approach. Thanks for the info. So was my being called just me making a random list? Or will all Season Ticket holders be contacted eventually?

Thanks for the info! I'm in the same boat as you! Give what I can, when I can, (only a couple hundred dollars a year since I'm not quite making the big bucks quite yet as I haven't been out of college too long. :) ) but anyways, I would guess it is more so that you attend a lot more of the other sports than I do. Living in West Central MN, I only get to a hockey & b-ball game once a year each. And, I usually try to double up on them, i.e. B-ball and hockey game on the same weekend. Wish I had the time to make more trips, but unfortunately, I don't. :( I would assume since you have a broader attendance base than myself, that helps.

I was more curious if they asked anything about gameday experiences? Maybe seeing what different people's different opinions were on that subject. Guess I should of put that in my original post so I didn't sound snarky and bitter. Haha! :)

Thanks for sharing though! I really appreciate it!

I like the patting ourselves on the back theme here e-bigelow :D We Gopher fans are so downtrodden sometimes, its nice to feel good about giving, to the athletic dept, the UMAA, or whatever subgroup you prefer. Sounds like we are in very similar circumstances, in terms of 'stature' as season tix holders, though I still think your 6 seats is a major difference (perhaps they think it's more likely that a guy with 2 seats would buy more, than a guy with 6?) Because of my location in the Milwaukee area, I tend to hit up road games in Madison and/or Evanston annually for hoops and football (and one other road FB game every year). I try to buy my tix thru the U when I can for football, because I know allotted road tix sales can figure into bowl selections. Without knowing much about this Aspire group, perhaps I was just randomly called. But I digress...

No, no questions about the gameday experience really at all. Mostly just friendly chit-chat and a thank you for being a supporter, with perhaps some subtle pressing to buy more seats(?). I am thinking about getting 2 more seats for my kids at some point... hmmm...

+1 to the bold part! I agree, it certainly does feel good to give when you can. I give to the UMAA once a year as much as I can afford, being an alum. And, never a bad idea to start 'em at a yougng age. My grandma took me to games for as long as I remember as she had season tickets for YEARS going back to old memorial stadium (although I never got to attend Memorial stadium as it was long gone before I was born. :( ), and look how I turned out! HAHA! :)
