Four teams escaped the list of “oh-fers”
Here's the list of teams still searching for their first Division I win (listed in order of today's RPI per CollegeRPI.com).
- Chattanooga 1-6 (RPI of 159, was 163) - Southern Conference. Went to Miss Valley State Saturday and won 65-61.
- UA - Pine Bluff 1-8 (140 from 189) - SWAC Played at SMU and won 64-64 but lost at Nevada later in week
- Youngstown State 1-8 (319 from 321) - Horizon. Beat High Point there 64-61on Friday but lost at Charlotte on Sunday.
- North Florida 1-8 (320 from 340) - Atlantic Sun. Beat Furman there.
Here's the list of teams still searching for their first Division I win (listed in order of today's RPI per CollegeRPI.com).
• Mississippi Valley State 0-13 (252 RPI, was 215) - SWAC. Lost at Arkansas State tonight and hosted and lost to Chattanooga . Doesn’t play until 1/3/09.
• Texas Southern 0-11 (265 from 296) - SWAC. Played and lost at Texas , at Gonzaga and at Idaho . Still their RPI improved! Play at Air Force tonight and host Portland State Saturday.
• Coppin State 0-7 (273 from 301) - MEAC. Lost at Wisconsin on Saturday and plays at Syracuse tonight. In fact, they haven’t played at home since 11/15 and won’t play at home until January 10th in their first conference game. (They play at Missouri and Oklahoma State … and are in the Rainbow Classic between Christmas and New Year’s. That’s a lot of frequent flyer miles!
• Loyola Marymount 0-12 (284 from 300) - West Coast. Lost at home to UC Riverside and Tulsa and lost at UCLA. Plays Mercer at home tonight and goes to New Mexico State on Sunday. They do play Seattle on 1/1 … Seattle has rejoined Div. I after a lengthy absence.
• Prairie View A&M 0-9 (285 from 228) - SWAC Lost at New Mexico State (Weds), Colorado (Fri) and Texas State (Sun). Next Div I game is 1/3 … visiting two other teams on the list ( Alcorn State and Southern University)
• Winthrop 0-8 (288, was 275) - Big South Visited and lost to Old Dominion on Saturday. I don't look for them to get a win 'til they host High Point on 1-7 but Charleston visits tonight and they play Florida at a neutral site on Sunday.
• SC Upstate 0-9 (291, was 264) - Atlantic Sun. Played and lost at both St Louis and Fresno State Does not play until 1/3.
• Eastern Michigan 0-8 (305 from 314) - MAC Lost to St Bonaventure at home Plays Oakland tonight and at Illinois on Sunday.
• UNC Greensboro 0-8 (310 from 325) - Southern Lost at Kent State and Dayton . Don’t play again until 12/31 when they host Akron .
• Pepperdine 0-11 (327, was 324) - West Coast. Three losses last week including one to Cal State Northridge by 35 points (64-99). They also play in the Rainbow Classic so maybe they’ll meet Coppin State .
• Alcorn State 0-9 (328, was 323) - SWAC. Lost to Cent. Michigan and then to NAIA’s Xavier of New Orleans at home later in the week – 49-68. Tough stretch for the Braves – and Sunday they play at DePaul.
• Houston Baptist 0-11 (334, was 335) - Independent (No Conference) Lost at North Texas and defeated at home byNorthwestern State . They play tonightUW-Green Bay tonight at home.
• Southern University0-8 (335 from 343) - SWAC. Lost at Creighton, Chicago State and DePaul this week They they're off 'til 1/1/09. Bet they're 0-8 finishing out this year.
• NCCU 0-13 (340, was 342) - Independent (No Conference) Beaten at South Carolina and by Winston Salem State at home. Likely that they'll be here next week as they’re playing at Duquesne tonight and then at Michigan a week from tonight.
• NJIT 0-10 (back to 341 from 339) - Independent (No Conference). Lost at Rider Saturday and go to Rutgers Tuesday and host Wagner next Sunday.
• Furman 0-7 (343 from 330) - Southern. As good hosts, they let North Florida win (66-77) and thus escape this list. Their reward? Last in ranking.
