A week ago today, there were 27 teams that had gone without a Division I win this season. Fortunately, the following seven teams have since chalked up their first (or more) Division I win:

  • UMass (first against Holy Cross and then in one of two upsets this Saturday, versus Kansas, 61-60). Their RPI is 219 today versus 300 a week ago and the Minutemen are now 2-6
  • Alabama A&M, now 1-2 (240 from 309). Beat Tennessee State 69-67
  • Wright State, now 2-7 (243 from 327). Beat Toledo 50-35 at home and UA-Little Rock there (62-55) but lost to Wake Forest, 53-66.
  • Fairleigh Dickinson, now 1-7 (277 - lower than a week ago's 256 when they were 0-fer). Beat Monmouth 71-67 there.
  • South Carolina State 1-4 (278; was 338). Beat Idaho 66-59 but then lost to Clemson, 63-90.
  • CS-Northridge, now 1-6 (292; was 311). Hosted and beat Denver 80-53
  • Fordham, now 1-6 (RPI of 307; was 313). Hosted and beat Lafayette 79-58
So there are now 20 teams still looking for a win:

Here's the list of teams still searching for their first Division I win (listed in order of today's RPI per CollegeRPI.com).
Chattanooga 0-6 (RPI of 163 from 170) - Southern Conference. Lost to Davidson 95-100. Plays East Tenn State on 12/17 and Saturday plays at Miss Valley State. (So one of these teams will find an elusive win!)
UA - Pine Bluff 0-7 (189 from 191) - SWAC Did not play during past week. Plays at SMU tonight (has a shot at winning this one) and at Nevada on 12/17
Mississippi Valley State 0-11 (215 from 234) - SWAC. Lost at Houston 58-92. Plays at Arkansas State tonight and hosts Chattanooga Saturday.
Prairie View A&M 0-6 (228 from 305) - SWAC Lost 63-90 at Baylor. Play at New Mexico State (Weds), Colorado (Fri) and Texas State (Sun). Best shot is Texas State.
SC Upstate
0-7 (264 from 269) - Atlantic Sun. Lost at Boston College 55-67. Plays at St Louis 12-17 and Fresno State 12-20
Texas Southern 0-8 (296 from 270) - SWAC. Did not play during past week ... which is good since they play at Texas on Tues, at Gonzaga on Thursday and at Idaho on Saturday. Look for TSU to be on the list next week, I reckon.
Winthrop 0-7 (275 from 293) - Big South Did not play during past week ... Plays at Old Dominion on Saturday. I don't look for them to get a win 'til they host High Point on 1-7
Loyola Marymount 0-9 (300 from 277) - West Coast. Lost 61-81 to UC Santa Barbara. As noted in PPD, hosts UC Riverside tonight, then travels to UCLA Wednesday and hosts Tulsa on Saturday.
Coppin State 0-6 (301 from 290) - MEAC. Lost at both Loyola MD (70-73) and at Dayton (56-73). Plays at Wisconsin on Saturday. (And Syracuse two days later) So you'll likely see 'em for at least the next couple of weeks on this list.
Eastern Michigan 0-7 (314, was 326) - MAC Lost 60-91 at Michigan. Plays St Bonaventure at home on Saturday.
Youngstown State 0-6 (321 from 303) - Horizon. Did not play during past week. Plays at Kent State (tonight), at High Point on Friday and at Charlotte (Sunday). They're looking at High Point as the most likely place to garner a win.
Alcorn State 0-7 (323 from 320) - SWAC. Clobbered by Mich State 60-118. At Cent. Michigan tonight.
Pepperdine 0-8 (324, was 316) - West Coast. Beaten at home by Pacific 55-73 Traveling to USC (tonight) and CS Northridge (Thurs); hosting Georgia Tech Saturday.
UNC Greensboro 0-6 (325, was 333) - Southern Lost at East Carolina 53-97. Plays at Kent State and Dayton (Thursday and Saturday, respectively)
Furman 0-6 (330 from 323) - Southern. Did not play during past week -- hosts North Florida Thursday. So either Furman or North Florida will leave the list.
Houston Baptist 0-9 (335, was 331) - Independent (No Conference) Lost to New Orleans at home 73-77. Plays at North Texas tonight and hosts Northwestern State on Saturday.
North Florida 0-7 (340 from 335) - Atlantic Sun. Did not play during past week -- hosts North Florida Thursday. Plays at Clemson on Tues and at Furman on Thursday.
NJIT 0-9 (339 from 341) - Independent (No Conference). Lost at St John's 54-82 and to visiting St Peter's, 38-51 Play at Rider this Saturday.
NCCU 0-11 (342) - Independent (No Conference) Lost at Arkansas 70-98 and 54-79 at Old Dominion. Play at South Carolina Tuesday and hosts Winston Salem State on Thursday. Likely that they'll be here next week.
Southern University 0-5(343 from 340) - SWAC. Lost 58-64 at home against Nicholls State. Visiting Creighton, Chicago State and DePaul this week (Tues, Weds and Friday, respectively). They they're off 'til 1/1/09. Bet they're 0-8 finishing out this year.
Weakest conference remains the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC).
