SD Union Tribune: Hoke won't confirm he's out of running at Minnesota

SDSU Athletic Director Jim Sterk said Tuesday that a single donor, as yet identified, recently made a $5 million pledge that will be used toward retaining football coach Brady Hoke and to challenge other alumni and friends of the university to help fund the program.

That's some serious cash from one guy just to keep their coach.

He would make that up in 2 to 3 years at the most. I can't believe their facilities are better than our ON CAMPUS STADIUM and other facilities. If he that good of a coach he is gone from SDSU in the next couple of years anyway.

I thought that footballscoop.com stated that Hoke, Calhoun, Edsall and Chryst all said no together yesterday and now Hoke is unsure. God you have to love the rumor mill.

$5 mil isn't going to do it if the U offers him a 5-6 year deal at even $1.5M plus incentives. In addition, there's the whole coaching in the Big Ten vs. coaching in the Mountain West thing.

He's just trying to milk SDSU for more money, I think Maturi got a bigger name already... just my two cents.

That would explain some reports indicating Hoke is out of the running, but his refusal to acknowledge that he's out of the running.

$5 mill is a lot dough for a guy who was on the hot seat in 2007 at Ball State. Don't get me wrong...I like Hoke but I don't think we should get into a bidding war either.
