It seemed like every time I looked at the scoreboard to review a critical play, it was showing a highlight... From last year. I was more than a little frustrated with the continual flow of old highlights. I wasn't interested in the least in watching field level video of Brooks runs against Illinois.

Also, is it just me or did the ads that always run down each side of the scoreboard (and shrink the size of the video image), actually grow in size this year? It is sad but I am near the point where I am going to turn my attention to the board on the SE side. It may be smaller and non HD but it is so much less cluttered and the actual video size is starting to rival the west board.

Yes, really frustrating. And the replays from last year seemed to be in games we lost. Who in the video department thought this was a good idea? Very annoying, and it needs to stop now. We too were discussing how the ads on the scoreboard seemed to be bigger this year. On another disappointing note, two of the guys in our group who usually buy a bag of peanuts early in the game, said the concession stand by us (sec 117) was out midway through the first qtr. They even looked at the stands close to us and they were out. How can you be out of peanuts that early in the game?! Did they ship them all to USBank stadium for the Viking's game?

They weren't even really highlights. Most of the clips were slow-motion shots of Shannon Brooks getting tackled.

I'm hoping it was just first game of the season rustiness and the production will improve. Pretty frustrating when they don't show any replays. What makes it worse I forgot to record the game so I can't even go back and look at any replays. I understand maybe not playing the replays the few times where the crowd could really turn on the refs, but when the refs are reviewing a play we should get to also.

Mrs. Billd was not amused. Pretty much called it worthless at the get go...and very annoying...and still annoyed this morning.

If memory serves me correct last year's opener with TCU was fine here. Replays as we expect them.

Not quite AggieVision but close. Definitely altered for the worse the "at the game" experience.

It was horrible. Last year the scoreboard engaged the crowd. Last night was terrible.

Totally agree...seemed like it was a sadistic conscious decision to see how bad they could make it. I hope someone gives Coyle or whomever is responsible an ear full!

You have 10 months to prepare for the opening game and create visuals for the scoreboard, and that's the best you can do?

I noticed some current Oregon State highlights toward the end of the game, after they had time to edit them I am guessing but yeah it was not worth looking at last night.

Yes, my group noticed this the entire game as well....Very aggravating. Highlights from last year that made no sense...at the wrong time.... often of players who are gone..... Verrrry amaturish.

It'd have been better to have been showing a Leave it to Beaver marathon up there.

That and the halftime were horrible...............

It was a regression. Yes, as noted above, I quickly tired of seeing Shannon Brooks getting tackled. Plus some of the replays were cut off before the interesting part. And if a big play got the Gophers into the Case IH Red Zone(WHOOO!!!) there was no chance of seeing it replayed.

Somehow we must have missed the "don't replay controversial plays even they aren't controversial" memo.

YES!!! I'm glad that I wasn't the only one bothered by this.

I'm sure the U will hide behind some lame statement that it's Big Ten policy to show replays, blah blah blah.....but that aspect of the gameday operations needs to improve quickly!

Two gripes

Other than bad offense, penalties, etc... 1. Where were the replays? I do not want to see highlights from past games during the game! 2. Did the band play at halftime? Couldn't hear a note with the loud fireworks! Do the fireworks right after the game please! Otherwise a beautiful night and a roused crowd - but someday I want to see a dynamic offense!

I was wondering the same thing aboiut #1. Not sure why they kept showing last year's replays.

Seriously? you felt the Gopher offense would be better? what in the past 4 years of Mitchball would have led you to believe there is 'more'?

Could someone please provide me with an email address where i can send a complaint about the replays and scoreboard operation? I have never emailed a complaint for anything in my life but that was maybe the worst scoreboard/replay experience i have ever had at a game. Ever.

Amateur hour. Again. And with a new sheriff in town! Brick by brick...this is how you build disinterest in a program. Sheesh
Btw, it was a lovely night for outdoor football.

Record breaker Mitch was far from the problem. I'm sure Demry would have lit it up.

Ads were bigger on the scoreboard. Learfield sports properties is responsible for those ads as well as the ads in the game program and radio spots. Can't complain to much as Learfield writes a check to the athletic department for $8 million.

God I hated that screen saver slow mo highlight of past games.... with the logos of the current game on it.

And even those plays on that screen saver like thing, some were ok plays in games we got our ass handed to us.... I don't need to be reminded of that.

And yeah the replays were very intermittent. Maybe on a great play from us they'd show the replay once, at inconstant times after the play.... and never again. Man show me that TD 20 times please rather than slow mo highlights from losing games with a confusing logo overlay.

I LOATH this new system.

Where'd you get the $8 million figure from? It's not worth it if the fans hate it and recruits notice how much more advertising we do compared to other schools.

It's the non highlights and hilights from not that game constantly playing that folks don't like, that's not even add-space.... no money there.

There you go. The giant diamond vision has naught to do with enhancing the fans' game-day experience. It is all about ad revenue. And annoying extraneous noise! And what's with the no controversial call replays:confused::mad: And who the hell decides if a play is controversial anyway:confused:  And are we trying to protect the game officials from a little healthy hometown booing:confused:  And are they now getting participation trophies for each game they ref:confused::mad:
Ok...end of rant. :)

hey high pockets, i never said anyone would be any better at qb. I am commenting that fans act surprised that the team plays similar to last year.

Constant Northwestern "highlights"?

Do the scoreboard people follow the team?
