With re-alignment I was thinking about potential scheduling for basketball and volleyball. MBB and volleyball could use the same concept. Play each team once, then play primary rival(Wisconsin) a 2nd time. The final two games would be against a pair of regional teams such as
UCLA/ USC
Oregon/ Washington
Indiana/ Purdue
Northwestern/ Illinois
Iowa/ Nebraska
Michigan/ Michigan State
Ohio State/ Penn State
Maryland/ Rutgers
It would take eight years to cycle through.
Women’s basketball is easier, one game vs each opponent and a second game with primary rival.
Gymnastics, maybe add more quad meets.
Softball is more difficult to find equitable balance.
