Sarkisian takes leave of absence at USC UPDATED: Sark fired by USC

He had a bad drunken incident at a rally or something where he dropped the f-bomb, I think that got the ball rolling on treatment...

Very bad

Really too bad for all involved. Really hoping he gets the help he needs.

This is getting ridiculous now. It seems obvious that something should have been done long ago.

That would be following a game versus another noted drunken head coach-Mike Leach.

I've never heard of him having a drinking problem before. A cursory google search doesn't seem to show any evidence that he does have one, which is odd for someone who is a "noted drunken head coach".

This will bring Pat Haden's judgment into question. Lane Kiffin, Sark, this is not a good look.

Maybe Andy Enfield's solid 5-31 record in the Pac-12 will save him...

Drunk on the job?.........or even drinking on the job. That's totally out of control. The guy needs help badly.

Seems to have had some family issues that either triggered or stemmed from the alcohol problem. Better late than never. Glad they are getting him the help needed.

Yes, I assumed a fact not in evidence. Sorry about that.

Hey now, it might not be a bad idea for Coach Kill to down a few bumps during the games. Might loosen him up a little. I kid, I kid:cool:

They just lost a recruit:

In the article it says:
It is unclear Sarkisian’s future with the team, but if allegations that he was drunk on a team flight and during a game are true then he will surely lose his job. As it stands, assistant Clay Helton will serve as interim head coach until further notice.

If he checks himself in for treatment, I don't think USC can fire him due to discrimination laws with an illness. Anybody know this law and how it could apply?

The person who has the problem needs to approach their employer and tell them they need help before the employer takes any action...and by action, that doesnt necessarily mean firing the guy right away, action could also be mandating rehab. If it is determined the employer was the first to act in anyway to the employees problem, the employer can be let go with no wrong doing.

Booze, family problems (he got divorced not long ago). Dude needs to get some help and step away from the game.

Looks like he is now fired. Thought maybe they would wait a little longer but not really surprised I guess.

And there it is.

I think Alabama's offensive coordinator is available. Maybe they should go after him.

If Chip Kelly continues to struggle in Philly, he's the guy.

Gut feeling with nothing to back up my opinion: I think he would be excited to leave for USC.

Showing up drunk to practices and games when you're charged with managing and leading 18 year old kids seems like a pretty good reason for dismissal.

Buzzed coaching IS drunk coaching...

Pat Haden should get a bonus from Washington for hiring Sark. They got a better coach, by far, in Peterson and got rid of a drunk womanizer. He was disliked by most in the PAC for throwing huge money at and hiring the the best recruiters on several of their rival PAC school's staffs. He was a very good recruiter and an average coach. He didn't drink because he got divorced, he got divorced because he was drinking and nailing some waiteresses at a local watering hole. He does not deserve sympathy. Think Brett B.

The hire of the next head Coach at USC is critical. It will not be a coordinator, nor a Mid major guy. A track record, and an attitude is needed.

Here is my choice to coach USC. Mike Gundy.

They will go big name. Could Saban be ready to get out of Bama?

So when do we start to hear the 'Jerry Kill to USC' rumors?
