Despite winning their first two games, the University of Minnesota men's basketball team may finish no better than sixth in a tough Big Ten, according to Pioneer Press beat reporter Marcus Fuller. Fuller joins Pioneer Press sports editor Mike Bass and columnist Bob Sansevere and TwinCities.com web sports producer Kevin Cusick to break down the team and, as part of that break down, they get into whether forwards Rodney Williams and Trevor Mbakwe can co-exist on the floor together.

Go Gophers!!

Richmond, and then Bahamas, will tell us a lot more

I really like what I've seen from the Gophers thus far. They're doing exactly what a superior team should do to an inferior one. ... jump on 'em from the get-go and don't even give 'em a sniff. That's what good teams do.

That said, I agree that folks should calm down a little bit about the Gophers. We'll have a much better feel for 'em after we see them in the Bahamas, probably even a better read after Sunday's Richmond game.

The Spiders should be a significant step up from American and Toledo. Liberty and UNC-Wilmington aren't the best opponents Richmond will face, but nevertheless the Spiders have won their first two games by a combined 85 points, 84-42 (Liberty) and 101-58 (UNC-Wilmington). They're doing something right.

Who should calm down? If anything, people have been more critical of our deficiencies the last few days than anything. We beat two bad teams, no one is saying we're top 10. Most think we're borderline Top 25 and that is still the case. I think our fan base has an appropriate stance of where we are after two games. We'll know more after the FSU game. I hope we can win 2 of those 4 games. I'd hate to see us come back 1-3 from that road trip.
