Xxx is a private club for its members’ enjoyment. That’s how they used to do it. Could buy a membership at the door, or have a member vouch for you.

There are some surprisingly fun bars in SLC but that was long time ago in a land far, far away. Ski bums and jackmormons can be fun people.
I wouldn't hang out in Provo.
IIIRC a bar membership was $20 way back then so with inflation best strategy will be to latch on to someone as their "guest" before you get to the door.
