Saga reminds of an old commercial - anyone else?

The whole saga made me think of a commercial that will definitely date me.
Remember the add (for what? I do not recall - points to anyone who does...) with Bill Martin and George Steinbrenner - As a joke - In it GS tells Martin "You're fired" (again) and then he really did fire him, and then, IIRC, Martin was rehired and they dubbed the commercial to say "You're hired"

Maybe we can make a fun commercial for Minnesota Golden Gopher Basketball like that!!

Reminds me of my favorite one of those - when Conrad Dobler incites the crown into a riot over great taste/less filling and then smirks and says " pretty strong words " and leaves his seat to everyone else fighting.
