The injury bug has bitten the Scarlet Knights from early in the season and it continued this week.
Head coach Greg Schiano announced on Wednesday that running back Sam Brown will be out for the season after suffering a lower-body injury on Saturday during Rutgers’ 42-7 loss to Wisconsin.
Brown sustained this injury in the fourth quarter against the Badgers. This is the second time in three years that Brown has been lost for the season with an injury. Brown went down with a broken foot toward the middle of his freshman year in 2022.
Brown becomes the third Scarlet Knight lost for the season with injuries. Mohamed Toure has not played this season after suffering a torn ACL while guard Bryan Felter went down for the year ahead of Saturday’s matchup with Wisconsin. Schiano touched on the team’s injuries during his press conference on Monday.
“Certainly, we’re banged up,” Schiano said. “We’ll get into that stuff Saturday with the availability report. It’ll be a challenge. We’re not in a great spot with our health right now, but that doesn’t matter.”
Brown was off to a strong start this season as the No. 2 back behind Kyle Monangai. He totaled 201 yards and three touchdowns on 40 carries and added a receiving score as well.
