"Russdiculous" to return to Louisville/Other crucial decisions in limbo

CJ Fair also just announced he's staying.

Smith coming back is huge for Louisville. Once again they are a serious F4 threat. Behanan, Smith, Hancock and some talented newcomers. Not quite as good as last year most likely but still really strong.

Is Siva gone next year?

I think Russ just came back so he could try and guard Andre in the home and home.

Siva and Dieng are gone, but they have two guys coming in to potentially play the point that have been noted as standout recruits. And of course Kevin Ware could play next year as well. Obviously Smith is excellent, and Hancock was great down the stretch. Behanan was great last year and Harrell was a good frontcourt reserve as a freshman. They are loaded again.

Korver chips in good advice

McDermott sounds like he has a good head on his shoulders. And I thought Kyle Korver gave him great advice, too. From another story. ...

McDermott -- a 6-8, 225-pound forward projected as a late first- or early second-round pick -- went to a team banquet earlier this week, and that's when it all hit him. How much he loves college life, how much he enjoys playing for his father, how excited he is about the prospect of playing in different venues in a new league. Then came a conversation with former Creighton star Kyle Korver, an NBA veteran who gave him valuable insight into the decision.

"If I'm going to play in the NBA, I'm going to play this year or next year," McDermott said. "I'm not buying into the fact that I had to go this year because the draft was considered weaker. He (Korver) told me that I'm going to have to beat out guys whether I'm a first-rounder or I wind up going in the second round."

Maybe good advice basketball wise, but a first rounder gets paid whether he beats guys out or not. Second rounder not so much. Financially it is much better to go round one.

The other problem that complicates the decision for these guys is that there is a shelf life to their careers. Waiting a year is a year of income you cannot recover. When you are too old to play- that's it, you can't add the year you lost on the front end onto the back end.
