Just saw a tweet from Royce that said he was " back ". No idea what it means but it was the first tweet from him since March.

Hope everything works out for him. No animosity. I also read, I think in the St. Paul paper, that he has the highest gpa on the team.

No idea on his eligibility (or not) but GPA was not his problem at The U either. He had good grades 1st semester but made poor choices in other areas.

Please. Please. Please. Don't bring that RW crap in here this year. Didn't we get enough of him already?

I guess I haven't. :)

I just don't see how he should be eligible. He was on scholarship with the U, which means he should have to sit out a year. Not to mention being kicked out of the dorms, arrested for stealing/assault, and questioned in the laptop deal. I'd love to see the justification if he is granted eligibility. He should have to sit a year, period.

In that case, might I suggest that you start monitoring the ISU board? That way we can enjoy gopher basketball and we won't have to be exposed to his mind fu#$*ng deceptions on this board.

The bad man has gone away and can't hurt us anymore. Why bother getting worked up?

If it's his first tweet since March isn't it likely that it just means he's "back" on the Twitter?

I'm not sure why somebody would open an obvious RW thread to bitch about a RW thread. Just ignore it.

No decision yet for Royce.

You'll know when he's officially declared ineligible because:

1. The loud bitching noise you'll hear rumbling across the border from delusional Cyclone fans that think the NCAA unfairly rules against them in all situations, this one included.
2. The number of 'told you so' posts on this board.

Is Maturi gone? I hope so. Gopher Hoops and Football will be perennial losers til that cancer is rid of.

Clipped from HP Website.
Mix of old and new information. I think the following is new - in that I did not see it last time I looked (may have missed it). Previous post mentioned he was a music major.

Alumni News:

The Iowa State Cyclones still haven't received notice from the NCAA whether forward Royce White (Hopkins) will be eligible to start the season. "We've submitted all the information, and now it's in the hands of the NCAA," head coach Fred Hoiberg said.

Until White becomes eligible, he'll practice with the team and three other Division I players who have transferred to Iowa State but can't travel with the team. If White isn't declared eligible this season, he'll redshirt and become eligible next season.

Meanwhile, Hoiberg said he believes White has the highest grade-point average in classes so far this fall. "Better than 3.0," he said.

I will be following Royce. Hope he does well - a fresh start.

God, I am glad that he is not ours to deal with this year. I'm glad we tried to make it work BUT: We've paid our dues.

You left out the part about dropping out of school second semester.

ATTENTION: To those that don't like this thread, don't read it.

So we'll save the Royce White storm for another day I guess. This was updated yesterday-

White’s eligibility still a question

As expected, we didn’t learn anything new about Royce White’s status for the upcoming season.

“I’m just staying positive and getting ready for the season either way, no matter what happens,” White said. “If I can’t play, I’m going to cheer. If I can, then I’ll suit it up and get ready to go to war.”

Iowa State’s season will tip off on Friday, Nov. 5 in an exhibition against Dubuque. The Cyclones’ first regular season game will be on Friday Nov. 11 when Northern Arizona comes to town.

CF will bring you a lot more coverage of media day in the coming days. Stay tuned.

Rest assured though. I'll keep up to date on Royce' status.

How do they know his GPA when he's been in school for a little over a month? Academic Fraud...

How do they know his GPA when he's been in school for a little over a month? Academic Fraud...

And ...profiling...aren't people kicked out of school for cheating usually not capable of a 3 plus gpa?

It's all confusing to me

I'm no genious, but the first day of practice was today. How long has it been since he has participated in a 'real' practice??

I'm assuming that's what he meant when saying he's "back".

If Royce is declared eligible to play this year it will affirm his belief that the rules do not apply to him.

No Royce this year, no surprise.

Iowa State learned late Monday afternoon that Minnesota transfer Royce White is ineligible to play. The Cyclones were waiting to see if White had to sit out the year in residence (even though he never played for Minnesota) since he was suspended over multiple issues (theft for one). The NCAA denied White's waiver Monday. Iowa State is appealing the decision, and the school announced that it will appeal to a committee of faculty representatives and athletic directors. White transferred to Iowa State on July 12.

Not eligible

The following is from the ISU BB web page: (was posted at 2:44 today)

White Eligibility Waiver Denied; ISU to Appeal

AMES, Iowa- Iowa State men's basketball player Royce White has been denied a waiver to compete in 2010-11 by the NCAA, the Iowa State Athletics Department announced today. Iowa State is, however, appealing the decision. Iowa State's appeal will be sent to a committee of faculty representatives and athletic directors.

White, a 6-8 forward from Minneapolis, Minn., is ineligible under NCAA transfer rules and this ruling means he would sit out the 2010-11 season. White enrolled at the University of Minnesota for his freshman campaign in 2009-10. He announced his decision to transfer to Iowa State on July 12.

"We are disappointed in the decision but we will start the appeal process immediately," Iowa State head coach Fred Hoiberg said. "We will exhaust every option available to try and restore Royce's eligibility. Royce is disappointed as well, but he is appreciative of our intent to appeal the decision."

White was ranked as the 19th-best player nationally by Rivals.com and Scout.com ranked him as the 10th-best power forward in the country in the class of 2009. He was named Minnesota's Mr. Basketball in 2009 after leading Hopkins High School to an undefeated 31-0 mark and Class 4A State Championship. White was one of 20 preps selected to play in the prestigious Jordan Brand Classic in 2009.
