Did everyone else notice how Tubby left Blake, Westy, Al and DJ on the floor for most of the second half?

I LOVED it. I think when those guys are hot, they need to stay on the floor until they ask to come off. I see they all played more than 30 minutes, which is a rarity for us.

I hope this is the beginning of a new rotation strategy with this team. Maybe after Tubby admitted he played Carter too little against Purdue, we will see him let the hot hands stay in.

Either way, great win. Can't wait til Wednesday.

Liked this as well, especially because the second line seemed to struggle in the first half. Making adjustments, riding the hot hand, Tubby knows what he is doing.

Gopher Basketball regardless if it's led by Coach Smith or Coach Monson sure helps me get through the cold, dark season. I appreciate the two games a week, it's never too long to look forward to the next game.

It was interesting...you rarely see Tubby playing multiple people > 30 min in a game. However, with the way they were playing, I was glad to see he let a good thing keep going.

The "Second Line"

I think the "Second Line" did not have its best spurt of the year in the first half. I can understand getting them all some minutes to warm them up a bit but I was really glad they did not make an en mass appearance in the second half.

I was surprised Bostick got zero floor time.

In Tubby I trust. :clap::clap::clap:

Great win but Im definetly not a fan of the 5 man rotation that Tubby always uses in the 1st qtr. I know it works sometimes but I like a more traditional rotation. But Tubby obviously knows what he is doing so I shouldnt question him. I was also surprised Bostick saw 0 min. today, I thought he could have been more productive than Rodney and Devoe.

Yea, the five man switch at the 14 minute mark in the first half was a buzzkill as that group was moving in slow motion...it really turned the intensity of the first half and not until late in the first did we re-establish our intensity. The bench was definitely shorter in the second half and that was critical to our big run. That won't always be the case, but it certainly was today and I was happy Tubby ran with it.

Go Gophers!!

Nolen did such a good job on Turner, he just took him out to give a breather. We had a our toughest defenders and our hottest shooter on the floor the majority of the time and it sure worked.

Tubby Minutes

I can't remember Tubby playing 4 guys for 30 plus minutes very often since he got here.

per the Trib box:

Damien 33 minutes
Al 32 minutes
Blake 31 minutes
Lawrence 30 minutes

I was pleased to see the starters stay in as well. The second line was awful. Devoe is worthless on the floor when he isn't shooting well, which has been most of the season. He isn't a good passer, defender, rebounder, basically anything. As already mentioned, Al did an amazing job on Turner. I was surprised to see DJ wasn't guarding him but it worked out.
