Nothing really new, but a good piece.

"And for all his critics, Glen Mason beat a couple top five teams, and won 10 games in 2003."

Was OSU in 2000 a top 5 team? I'm trying to recall the other besides Penn State in '99?

Lou Holtz never beat Michigan and OSU was ranked #6 when we beat them in 2000.

Rosie needed a little better fact checking.

As our local media proves time and time again when covering the Gophers, never let facts get in the way of a good story.

I acutally like Rosie and think he is the best of the local TV anchors, but the Holtz beating Michigan thing was not good.

I think they were 6th, but I could be mistaken.

Rosie is fine, but when you combine the slip ups in this piece with the apparently un-edited piece by Dennis B in the Strib this AM, it was a rough 12 hrs for the local media.

The Gophers haven't been awful for 40 years, as is often claimed. There have been had years and pretty good years, just not good enough to get a Big Ten title. I was looking at the media guide to look up the Gophers records. I just looked at Big Ten results, because non-conference schedules are so variable.

I defined bad as a year with two or less Big Ten wins in a season, and mediocre as three of four Big Ten wins (counting ties as half a win and half a loss). What really stands out when you do this is the 1990's. From 1991 to 1998, the Gophers were 12-52 in the Big Ten. During that stretch, the Gophers finished 1-7 five times, 2-6 twice, and only reached mediocrity one time, with a 3-5 record in 1993.

It's the 90's that gave this impression that the Gophers have been awful for 40 years.

What got you about the Bracken pience this morning?

MV does a pretty good breakdown over at FBT, but he rips our talent level saying "You can't lose to South Dakota State and Northern Illinois and talk about untapped talent"

If I was a player, coach, or administrator at USD I'd be pissed that my biggest rival is getting credit for my accomplishment.

Good catch, I did not even notice that. Just read the article...it is still there.

After re-reading the Brackin piece, it was HORRIBLE. The USD / SDSU thing was a bout the 5th worst error in that article.

Nothing that wasn't said before but the clips from the past were GREAT!

Dave Mona

Dave Mona is "special assitant to atheletics director Joel Maturi". That is not the same thing as assistant athletic director, which he is not.

Dwight Schrutte would like a word with you.

Mr. Schrutte probably knows how to deal with Badgers. Although I'm guessing he probably has nothing but admiration for them so he might be Maturi's illegitimate son.

lol

Come on man...lol...forcing me to google stuff and figure out who this guy who is mad at me is.
I have seen the show. No idea who any characters are, but dead on based on my research.
Thanks for the chuckle.
