They should have easily the best WR corps in the Big Ten and one of the best in the country behind only Bama and maybe USC. I know it's popular to rip on Purdue with Brohm and the recent negative recruiting indecent but they should be really fun to watch next year and I am really excited to watch them. I will definitely be rooting for them aside from when they play us of course.

I’m not sure it’s popular to rip Brohm
It’s popular to rip people who think he is a god.

he is a good coach

We have been fortunate that Rondale Moore hasn’t hurt us much in the two games we have faced him.

Purdue has been my prediction for the biggest breakout this season. They got a ton of reps to freshmen last year, and I believe set some kind of record for % of offense coming from freshmen. They have favorable crossovers (Indiana and Rutgers) and would welcome Moore back.

Brohm is JC. Read the Bible sometime and you will see.

It’s so tough to gauge and predict without no conference.

Being 7-5 (4-5) feels like more of a breakout than 3-5 or 4-4

The two for one injury deal was fluky as all get out last year. Elijah Sindelar quit football and won’t be back. Plummer their #2 will be, and did alright stepping in last year before he went down to injury. PJF seems to have JB’s number but anything can happen. Looking forward to this one.

I am not a Brohm fan for several reasons. Purdue has gone from my "pull for them when they aren't playing the Gophers" list to my "let them burn" list. Moore is a great player and the Gophers have indeed been fortunate to dodge his bullet so far. Let's hope this can continue for one last meeting this season.

This is a tad ot but I think that all these players opting back in makes the pay players movement a bit mute. One year of playing college must be valuable enough without being paid to them to opt back in.

Their defense allowed well over 400 yards per game last year. I haven't peeped their depth chart, but unless they VASTLY improve on that side of the ball, I'd say 4-4 would be optimistic.

After looking at who they get back, Purdue should be much better on D than they were last year.
They return 9 starters on D plus get DT Lorenzo Neal back who missed all of last year but was a projected first rounder by many before that. They also get a really nice Uconn transfer DB who had 260 career tackles the last 3 years. With Micah Parsons opting out, Karlaftis would be my pick for preseason Big Ten DPOY. With he, Neal and Derrick Barnes back along with every other rotational D-lineman back, I think Purdue has the best D-line in the West and one of the best in the conference.

I'm always wary of the "got guys back ,should be better" theory. One day I want to do some maths on how that plays out, if it does.

It's not a guarantee but just from my experience the last 10 years of looking at who teams bring back in the preseason, I'd say more often than not if a team brings back 9 or 10 starters on one side of the ball, they are usually better than the year before as long as they don't get ravaged with injuries or transfers.

Same with CBB, if a team gets all 5 starters back than from my experience, I feel like more often than not they definitely are improved.

And even if you don't believe that theory, Purdue was very young last year with their best defensive player, their QB, RB and 3 of their best WR's all being freshman. Also played a few freshman at DB and along the D-line as well.

Years and years ago, my friends and I held jobs for the same company several summers in a row. We worked alongside each other the whole time and were pretty proud of how amazingly awesome and productive we were (though meager, the production bonuses were something to brag about). By our third summer we thought our crew would be the envy of the entire team. Well, when the older ones moved on we got a fresh set of young “team members”. It was a disappointing season. All it took was just two incompetent workers. We had to cover for them when they didn’t show up, or when they decided not to work hard that day. They were slow learners and we spent a lot of time fixing their mistakes. Even though we were the most experienced crew, it was our worst year and our dream team sucked. I didn’t have enough money to buy the sweet boombox I had my eye on. Times were tough.

Nice breakdown. Forgot about Neal, which will be very big. With that many returners, it does seem they've got a chance to improve a great deal on D which is an absolute must for them to improve as a team. Wisconsin still probably better on the DL, don't you think? But I got no ill will towards PU, so if they're much better this season then so be it.

Yep, returning production is large factor in eg, preseason SP+.
